This book is the result of many people working together to honor a great artist: HR Giger. His influence can be seen in all kinds of media, like games and movies, and his distinctive style is not only evident in his own work but has also coined the term „gigeresque,“ an influence recognizable in the works of other creators.
Hans Ruedi Giger (1940–2014), born in Chur, Switzerland, was a painter, sculptor, and designer known for his influential, dark Surrealist Gesamtkunstwerk. During a career that spanned more than five decades, Giger was a witness to the Cold War, the nuclear arms race, rapid technological progress, the fast-growing destruction of the planet, and the sexual revolution – all of which informed his work and resulted in the creation of an iconic mythology for a nightmarish future.
For TRIBUTES: HR GIGER, many artists have come together to speak about this influence. Their first exposure to his work, be it through the iconic design for the ALIEN franchise, or through what will be the focus of this book: his work as an artist. The book features 240 pages featuring art by over 100 artists. The book is in A4 format (297 x 210 mm / 11.69 × 8.27 inches), bound in hardcover, and features debossed and embossed elements with a glossy varnish and spot UV.
The book will include interviews with Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy), a rare interview with Giger himself, and many more! Also featuring the members of Blasphemy, Death Worship, Conqueror, and other bands. All artists will receive 90% of the campaign’s profit and also copies of the books.
