โ๏ธ Did You Know โ๏ธ Teddy started his musical career with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes before embarking on his own solo career?
Yes!
From 1970-โ75 he was the groups lead singer during his time with them, being noticed for his raspy baritone voice. Pendergrass was with the Blue Notes during their peak success with credible hits like I Miss You, Wake Up Everybody, The Love I Lost and then some. He decided to split with the group due to exploitation and creative differences to focus on doing his own thing, getting into his own bag. His solo career was prolific in the r&b scene in the 70s and 80s as he gave us countless anthems while staying at the top of the charts; being the seductive sly tongue brother he was.

In 1987 on this day in Hip Hop history, Eric B. and Rakim dropped their monumental debut album, Paid In Full. Production handled by the duo, Rakims monotoned yet deadly flow mixed with Eric Bโs original and on time cuts shook the hip hop scene with this album showing us a cool, calm approach to hopping on the mic. Itโs noted that the B-side single โMy Melodyโ was recorded while Rakim was lounging on the couch. Happy 38th birthday to this groundbreaking LP. Whatโs your favorite track or verse on this album?
This is one of the first hip hop trax exposed to me. I remember 6yr old me being in my pops jeep with the boomin system and him emphasizing the scratches from Eric B at the end, acting like he was Eric himself๐ญthis song is rooted in my childhood.

An incredible night for storytelling, music and discovering different vendors. It was a real heartwarming treat to be part of this constellation of an event.
We brought out 3 crates, across sound styles. We also had some vintage Tโs with a number of loved artists and even got to hand out some Spinners Delite stickers and magnets โก๏ธ
This was such a special experience! The highlight of our night was making connections with the neighbors who showed up! We met lots of curious music Lovers and were pleasantly surprised with how many jazz heads dug through the crates ๐ต
๐We were blown away by the giant puppet show. The puppeteers and show hands did an amazing effort, putting together a story of cultural spiritual guidance, connection to Land, enduring friendships while navigating state violence. Enjoy the clips!
This was our second experience as a pop-up and appreciated the feedback ya shared. We look forward to more opportunities to vend. โ๏ธ
