With Drew cooking up a new logo by creative and intelligent (but not the artificial kind) means through the use of Microsoft Paint we felt the time was good for a fresh introduction here at Wax Museum about who and what we are.
Ultimately we are record people. We believe there’s a powerful experience to be had when a needle first hits the groove on an album and glides to completion. This reality augmented by intentional listening and leaning into understanding an albums narrative(the stories of its creators, and the sonic and cultural evolution of its sound), but ultimately made better when this mystical experience is shared with people.
We enjoy inviting others into that depth of participation of immersive listening - and even dancing- by playing full albums, and curating accompanying sets that identify musical influences, tease out sonic lineages and vibe adjacent sounds of the records being focused on. On non full album listen sets, with rhythm as our North Star, we select music from all four corners of the planet weaving together sets that include thumping organic grooves - ceremoniously connected to the earth-and electric ones that make you feel like your on a space cruiser travelling around the sun.
But these are all just fancy ways to say, we dig all sorts of tunes, we dig you, and we dig the next time we can spin some records with you for both listening and dancing.

I want to take the opportunity to make an acknowledgment of the land I live, work, and play records on.
I am currently residing on the traditional , ancestral , and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musquem) , Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) , and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations in the city , province, and country commonly / colonially known as Vancouver, BC Canada.
I am of Indo Carribean and Settler French background and a guest on the west coast territory where I listen, watch, and engage with music both locally and globally.
As this is a page focused on sharing music it’s important to make this acknowledgment because of the implicit intersecting points of music, narrative and justice.
In my collection are artists whose work is a commentary on politics , and justice or whose existence is a statement of each of these. A music sharing page can’t avoid talking about this.
There is still rampant injustice where I live regarding the treatment of the lands First Nations, Inuit , and Métis peoples. There is injustice towards Indigenous peoples globally in a variety of contexts. No justice occurs without genuine reconciliation, and Indigenous land sovereignty.
A single post with a land acknowledgment is not enough to help decolonize a space, but hopefully it represents a standard for this page to share music by Indigenous artists.
Sharing these artists in this is post (they will pop up again future batches) is a genuine commitment on this page to amplifying, sharing, listening and learning about the unique lived narrative, culture , and language expressed and shared by Indigenous voices through music unique to the territories and identities they come from. I hope to continue to grow my collection with these voices (local and global) to learn from the art they have shared, and to learn more about my place within the colonial structure and support its dismantlement- wherever Indigenous peoples are continuing the struggle in overcoming colonialism.

Dandelion Records returns to the Lido December 12th with DJ’s Psyche-D (@spin_class ) & Ian Prentice.
We will be contributing to the festivities with an all vinyl variety of warm fuzzy grooves and 4x4 flavours from dub wise to disco, boogie, house and some italo too. The usual mixed bag of psychedelic dance music from across time and space.

@spin_class aka Psych-D & DJ Holodeck will be spinning all day in between sets on our opening day Sunday.
Holodeck and Psyche-D are the two selectors behind @waxmuseum a facilitated immersive listening experience of full albums on vinyl. They tease out the sonic lineages of these with curated sets identifying musical influences, and vibe adjacent sounds.
For these two “psych” isn’t just a genre, but a flavour of weirdness that is fluid and found in all types of music, The albums chosen and their curations are diverse and gravitate towards all sounds with deep , mind bendy grooves, heavy rhythms, that either challenge or touch on the unfamiliar for a listener.
@45vinylritchie will likewise be spinning Monday before and in between sets.
