Itās been a minute since I introduced myself, and somehow weāre at 4.5K followers now?! š„¹
So heyy yāall, Iām Katherine.
Personal anecdotes first, because thatās more fun:
Iām a lover of all things salsa⦠but mostly chips and salsa because ya girl does not have rhythm like that. šØš“šš¬
I am also Carter Tās personal chef, chauffeur, snack coordinator, appointment manager, and emotional support human.
Now professionally, Iām Katherine Thompson, LPC-S, the Executive Director of Spero Psychological Services. Through Spero, I help individuals, leaders, and organizations build resilience, set healthier boundaries, and create success that does not require burnout as the entry fee.
Around here, we talk about mental health, leadership, resilience, culture, burnout, motherhood, and the very real work of becoming who you are called to be without losing yourself in the process.
Whether youāve been rocking with Spero for a min or just found us, Iām so glad youāre here. š«¶
Today is the last day of #MinorityMentalHealthMonth and Iām reflecting on the honor of speaking at the 4th annual @_melaninminds mental health #conference. The panel discussion was on how #mentalhealth and #wellbeing are needed to be a thriving #entrepreneur. Iām very passionate about, and I center my #business Spero Psychological Services on, ending #mentalhealthstigma within the global majority. Hereās a snippet of the conversation moderated by @laraeinfinitymedia

I wanted to do a little intro for new followers and show off my new headshots! Iāve been using the same headshots since 2018 š¬ lol Iām Katherine Thompson, founder and executive director of Spero Psychological Services. I founded Spero in 2019 with hopes to put a dent in what stops people from seeking help when they have mental health challenges. š§ Through that lens, I do speaking engagements, train clinicians, and have coaching programs all geared toward being agents of change. I focus on entrepreneurship, the power of being in community, and fighting for success while being in bias work environments. Want to learn more about all that Spero does? Some think hesitation means ādonāt do it.ā
Meanwhile your nervous system is just realizing this next step has a little weight to it.
Big decisions, new opportunities, uncomfortable growth⦠of course youāre going to pause for a second. That does not automatically mean stop.
Sometimes it just means you care.
And sometimes? The next step actually matters most.
#ResilienceSĆ
A reminder that being professional does not mean abandoning yourself in the process.
You can be driven, polished, and about your business without sacrificing your peace just to prove you belong in the room.
Thatās the kind of resilience we talk about at Spero.
S/O to everyone graduating this semester! š„³š
These pics take me right back to grad school days ā tired, overly stimulated, and trying to remember if I submitted the assignment or just thought about submitting it š
Those years shaped so much of the mental health advocate and organizational consultant I am today.
To every graduate: Celebrate the moment, take the pics, and let it sink in.
You really did that! š
Thank you to @darelreels and @nova.suite_ for creating space for a real conversation on entrepreneurship, leadership, and what it takes to keep going without losing yourself in the process.
I was grateful to share more about the work I do through Spero ā helping individuals and businesses navigate burnout, toxic work environments, microaggressions, and the pressure so many people feel to work twice as hard just to be seen as enough.
Because sometimes ābooked and busyā is giving productivity⦠and sometimes itās giving survival mode with a Canva template.
Grateful for the dialogue, the community, and the reminder that success should not require self-abandonment.
