Performing there last year was a humbling reminder of the most important criteria for any bands performing in Southern California:
1) PACK THE VENUE WITH PAYING CUSTOMERS
2) KEEP IT PACKED ALL NIGHT
If you are able to do this, you may be asked back, but will be expected to do just as well, or better than the first time. Otherwise, you are not asked back again.
Despite our enthusiastic audience, we just did not draw as many people as name comedians like Pauly Shore, or even “tribute“ bands and cover bands. We attempted to make up for it by hanging out at the venue, buying pizza and T-shirts, etc. But to no avail. When the guy who booked you leaves before your set is over, that’s just not a good sign. The furtive and/or sympathetic looks from employees when we go there now are just too embarrasing for us. So, despite holding out hope of performing there again-we’re backing away.
🙏Thanks to the people that did come out last time,
And to those who have asked if we’re performing there again – unlikely.
The musical climate in 2026 really makes me wonder why I didn’t just learn to play ONE instrument - instead of 20. That way I could’ve focused my time and effort on being popular and drawing huge crowds to my performances. 🤦♂️
We may just be the last indie band playing original music in the South Bay, so be sure to see us on Saturday May 30 at the Alehouse in Lomita.

I was staying at a friend’s place in Northeast L.A.—a writer working on a novella he called Northeast of Eden, a loose chronicle of the neighborhood’s strange gravity. His house reflected that same pull: cluttered notebooks, half-finished drafts, and a backyard garden that felt more like an experiment than a sanctuary. He grew psychedelic plants. Not casually—obsessively. Magic mushrooms, San Pedro cactus… and tucked in the corner, a cluster of pale, trumpet-shaped flowers that seemed to glow at dusk. “Datura,” he told me, almost offhand. I’d tried other things before, but not that. “You ever have the tea?” he asked. “No.”He paused, then shook his head. “Don’t. It’s not fun.” A day later, he left town and handed me the keys. “Hold down the fort.”
That first night was quiet. Too quiet. By the second, boredom crept in. By the third, curiosity had teeth.The flowers were still there, blooming like they were waiting. I made the tea. That’s where things stopped making sense. At first, it was subtle—a shimmer at the edge of my vision, a whisper I couldn’t quite place. Then the walls started breathing. Shadows detached themselves and moved independently. I wasn’t alone anymore. There were spiders. Too many legs, too fast to track. Monsters that felt ancient and personal, like they knew me. I fought them—physically, desperately—though I couldn’t say with what or where. People came and went.
Conversations stretched on for hours with voices that had no bodies. I answered questions no one asked. Time collapsed. Days passed. Or minutes. Or weeks. I couldn’t tell. My body turned against me—skin burning, throat bone-dry, vision fractured into blinding light and deep, swallowing dark. I remember trying to drink water and missing the glass entirely. I remember laughing at something that wasn’t there, then screaming just as hard. “Blind as a bat, dry as a bone, red as a beet, mad as a hatter, hot as a hare.” I didn’t know the phrase at the time. I lived it. When it finally released me—two weeks later, or what I was told were two weeks—I wasn’t sure what had been real. Some of it still felt closer than reality. The garden was untouched. The flowers were still blooming. #datura

So, too many of us have now noticed the airplane trails in the sky. Google is using their AI to adress it. Unfortunately, they are absolutely determined to refer to these trails as CONTRAILS. Google has teamed up with American Airlines managing Director of flight operations John P Dudley to address it. Which is kind of like putting a pyromaniac in charge of fire prevention. Surprisingly, Google is admitting that the trails affect the weather and heat up the atmosphere below, as we’ve been saying for well over a decade, and as many people have been pointing out, but nobody listened. Sadly, Google is denying that these are intentional trails, which they are.
