Continue Race Report from the Prior Post:
On the 4th Lap @robbygordon got back in to finish the fourth lap and use it as a pre-run for the Trophy truck race on Saturday morning
By staying committed and finishing all four laps, the Speed UTV production race car finished the 2026 Mint 400 in the 7th position of 18 cars in our class.
With this experience, we learned we need to remove the studs off the Speed S Lighted Logo so this doesn’t happen again.
The positive note this was a Driver induced issue. And the 2026 Speed UTV Production Race cars are Rad and super Tough as the the Mint 400 course is brutal with the sharp edges.
On to the next Adventure the 2026 Norra 1000 with Speed UTVs
2026 Mint 400 was another adventure and the Key to Success is never give up and always finish the projects you start.
Here is a Quick Race Report
The 2026 Speed UTV Production race cars started out the race in the 18th position in our class by the time we got to race mile 35 Gonzo pit the team was already the fourth car in our class on the road
By the time we got to the dry lake bed, we had passed everybody in our class and unfortunately had a belt failure at 100 mph.
This change took a few minutes to get fixed and then @madmaxgordon took the controls
At the end of the second lap, we’re back in the fourth position in our class just a few minutes behind the leaders.
On lap 3 just passed Gonzo pit Max noticed that the trans temp has gone to 300°. At that point Max and Kole pulled over and looked at the vehicle and we had a hole in the front oil cooler, this is used as a trans cooler since we have the new hot weather package on this car. There is a pump at the bottom of the transmission pick up that pushes the oil to the front oil cooler, but with an hole in the cooler, it was not returning to the transmission so all the oil had been pumped out of the transmission. At this point, they made a very good decisions to slow down and idle to the next pit 20 miles away. (SMART DECISION)
By the time this happened, The TEAM action and had the transmission from the main pit to Gene hurst pit. The team was ready for him. As soon as the car stopped they jumped into action and changed the transmission in one hour and 30 minutes and back in the fight. Continued on the next post:
