Today at Speech Meta, we hosted the final session of the second round of our Cantonese Autism Family Circle Parent Support Group.
In recognition of Asian Heritage Month and Better Speech and Hearing Month this May, we are especially grateful to have SLPs who can create a space where Cantonese-speaking families can come together through the journey of raising neurodivergent children. 🤍
This group runs once a month, with each round including 3 sessions. As part of this pilot parent support project, we are currently offering the group free of charge for Speech Meta families as we continue learning, growing, and building community together. ❤️
Thank you to all the parents who joined us today and openly shared your experiences and insights with one another. We packed a lot of learning and discussion into one hour together today, and it was such a meaningful time of reflection, connection, and support as we continue learning alongside one another.
To register for our upcoming group, please email us at [email protected]. (max. 10 participants each session)
Halfway through Season 3 of Brain Power Run Club and ours heart are so full 🧠🏃♂️💨💙☀️
BPRC is a social run club for neurodivergent kids and teens where we build so much more than running skills. Through movement, games, teamwork, and routine, we work on:
✨ growth mindset
✨ social-emotional learning
✨ confidence
✨ teamwork & sportsmanship
✨ executive functioning skills
✨ positive self-talk
Watching these kids encourage each other, take on hard things, build friendships, and grow in confidence week after week has been incredibly special.
Stay tuned… Season 4 registration is coming soon👀
💭 An SLP session might look simple… 🤔
Kinetic sand, some toys and a device on the table.
But what you’re really seeing is A C C E S S.
Access to communication…💬
Access to regulation… 😌
Access to choice… 1️⃣ / 2️⃣
Access to connection ♥️ !
And when access is there, everything starts to come together!

Happy birthday to three wonderful SLPs on our team, Emily, Mia, and Shannon! 🎉🤍🎂They all share the same birthday!! 🤩🤩
It feels especially meaningful to celebrate all three of you at the start of Speech and Hearing Month in May. We hope your day is filled with moments you truly enjoy, whether that’s time with loved ones, being outdoors , getting some well deserved rest, or simply doing the little things that bring you joy 🤍
A special note for Shannon 🥹🤍:
The Speech Meta Vancouver team is so blessed to be led by you. You lead with clinical excellence, dedication, and a strong passion for the work you do ❤️
You pour so much into the way you support and guide team members, and in how you mentor new SLPs, students, and volunteers who aspire to become SLPs!
The way you lead the team, and all the behind the scenes work, does not go unnoticed 🤍 Thank you for all that you do 🥹
Thank you for shaping Speech Meta into what it is today! There’s something really special about celebrating your birthday in your first year as a clinic owner🎈✨ Love you lots!

Speech Therapy in Cantonese 💬
At Speech Meta, we offer speech therapy in other languages, including Cantonese, to better support the kids and families we work with.
Today, we’re sharing two of the resources we use to support Cantonese speech sound development.
We also use a Cantonese articulation assessment to understand each child’s speech sound profile and guide therapy planning.
If you have concerns or questions about your child’s speech in English or Cantonese, please visit our website and fill out our client intake form!
❤️
Last Saturday, our SLP Sandy had the wonderful opportunity to represent the Speech Meta team on Fairchild Radio FM 96.1, joining host Lily for a special interview during Autism Acceptance Month.
The conversation was conducted in Cantonese and focused on sharing what speech-language pathologists do, how we support autistic children and teens, and resources in the community.
We were so encouraged to hear that they received a lot of positive feedback from listeners who tuned in that day!! 🫶
We’re grateful for opportunities like this to continue building awareness and acceptance for autistic children and teens. ❤️
Thank you Sandy and Lily at FM 96.1!
