“The best harbor seal encounters? Snorkeling, not diving.” — Emma, snorkel guide
Snorkel Mondays on Spectre start June 15th and happen ALL SUMMER LONG. We leave at 9 AM out of Ventura Harbor and stay at one spot all day. Hot tub, food, rental gear, guide in the water — all included.
No certification needed. Just come ready to explore.
Tag someone you think would love a day like this and book your spot at spectresnorkel.com
For years our unofficial dive guides have been the sheephead. Big personality. Questionable sense of direction. Zero interest in leading a safety briefing.
Good news, we hired some real humans. New guides on board, new faces on the boat, same three dives at Anacapa and/or Santa Cruz.
The sheephead are taking the news well.

A mission in the Channel Islands for a first ever seal encounter. Mission Success
Most people drive right past Ventura without realizing there’s an entire underwater paradise 15 miles off the coast. Seals, horn sharks, egg yolk jellies, kelp forests that feel like a different planet — this place delivers every single time. Even when conditions aren’t “perfect”
The seal stuff at the end is the part that got me. Once they trust you, they just don’t leave. That’s not something you can force. You just have to be patient and let them come to you, which is also the law. Never touch or approach marine mammals. Always let them make the first move.

Sea lions might look like they’re just being loud, but those barks can travel long distances and are used to recognize each other in crowded colonies. Unlike true seals, they can rotate their back flippers under their bodies, which is why they can actually “walk” on land.
In the water though, they’re on a different level, reaching speeds up to 25 mph and using their front flippers like wings to fly through the ocean #SeaLions #MarineLife #OceanFacts #sonya7sⅲ
The least visited national park in the U.S… is hiding one of the most alive ecosystems on Earth.
Beneath the surface of the Channel Islands, giant kelp forests grow up to 2 feet per day, supporting over 800 species in a single ecosystem. Dive in with me and find out more reasons this place is the most underrated national park in the US #ChannelIslands #KelpForest #Freediving #OceanConservation #CaliforniaCoast
Another beautiful day of capturing the joy of wonderful people connecting with the ocean. Thank you @blueholicscuba and @spectrediveboat for having me. #freediving #scubadiving #channelislands #ocean #nature
