“Saint Tectonic of Appalachia” is a piece from my first runway collection, “Of Limestone, Chlorophyll, and Bone”. The helmet was painted by @rita.m.cameron.3 and modeled by my husband, Robert Major @specimen281 at @dark.castle.fest 2024. This work is inspired by the powerful and ancient geological formations known as the Appalachian mountains. They are one of the oldest places on our planet, forming 1.1 billion years ago when the continents of Laurentia and Amazonia collided. The result of this event was the supercontinent known as Rodinia, and the first mountain ranges of Appalachia. Being born on these mountains to a Black coal mining family, it felt correct for Robert to wear these works as a testament to the resiliency and power of this place and his people. “Saint Tectonic” is a protector of these mountains, a sentinel to the Black and LatinX miners who played a significant role in building modern day Appalachia. People whose contributions and suffering are still largely overlooked. The work was hand sculpted over Robert’s body using biodegradable polymers and PLA from a 3D pen. Finished with mica, gold leaf, and gold chrome. The helmet was fitted to Robert and beautifully painted in earth tones by @rita.m.cameron.3 . These colors added a new depth to this overall darker look, and I am so proud of how it all came together! Fitness update. I finally hit 180lbs in this bulking phase. Phew that was hard, but we’ve made some gains. Especially with upper chest, which has always been difficult, and I think I’m finally feeling/triggering/cuing lats and rear delts properly. Now it’s time to cut, maybe target 165 and go from there.

From 2015 in my memory feed and makes me miss not being at movement this year. We were dancing to a Detroit fav, the Queen @djminxwomenonwax ! ❤️ @patricialaydorsey always a joy and inspiration!
