Thereâs one myth we find ourselves debunking over and over again: that being transgender makes us non-deployable. Trans troops ARE in fact deployable; here are the facts, illustrated with images of real trans troops deployed worldwide.

The federal and many state governments continue to unleash an onslaught of legislation and policies in an attempt to discourage, silence, and erase us. Recently, this escalated when the administration noted âradical pro-transgender ideologyâ as a concern in its counterterrorism strategy.
This doesnât indicate that every trans American will be considered a threat, and the documentâs purported goal is to find and prevent political violence (thanks for this reminder @therosemontoya !). However, this vague and inflammatory rhetoric creates a climate of fear and silence. It warps reality and chills dissent. It threatens our safety. It paints advocates and advocacy organizations like ours as threats to America, rather than as the patriotic Americans we are.
But we know we are not a threat and we will continue to fight *peacefully* for our rights. Read through the slides for more of our takes and insight on how weâre thinking about this development at SPARTA Pride.

Leadville 100 Fundraiser for SPARTA Pride
Transgender Service Members being separated from the military are facing housing, food, and employment insecurities. Many are being forced to flee their home of record as evidence based healthcare is being denied. Their names and homes are being put on lists, facilities become inaccessible, passports and drivers licenses are being revoked.
This is NOT what veterans and service members deserve who have served their country with honor and distinction. They upheld their oath, while the military and VA did not honor their contract. This is a betrayal of American values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Founded in 2013, SPARTA Pride stands tall to support our republic and democratic values.
Help them as the Executive Director, Kara Corcoran @queenofmaneuver of @spartapride trains for arguably one of the hardest races in all of the world. @leadvilleraceseries runs this legendary race founded in 1983. This grueling course will reach over 16,000' of vert with the elevation ranging from ~9,200' to 12,600'.

Thank you @lastweektonight with John Oliver for last nightâs episode highlighting the Supreme Courtâs Shadow Docket and the concerning ways itâs increasingly used to shape our countryâs laws and policies. This growing pattern has wreaked havoc on the LGBTQ+ community nationwide. In this clip, Oliver touches on the trans military ban and highlights a PBS documentary segment featuring one of our board members, Erica Vandal.
Need some context? Last spring, SCOTUS agreed to review Shilling (one of the two major trans military ban lawsuits) in their Shadow Docket. In the prior Trump administrationâs ban attempt, SCOTUS required that troops already serving and already transitioned must be allowed to remain in. Yet last spring, SCOTUS opted to allow a complete trans military ban to go into effect without so much as a hearing. Not only does the Shadow Docket typically mean no oral arguments or evidence, but it also means they donât have to provide an explanation.
With this shocking decision, the SCOTUS majority indicated the government would experience more harm by keeping thousands of trans service members in place than trans service members would be harmed by losing their livelihoods (not to mention their units harmed by their sudden departure). Overnight, thousands of service members and their families were devastated, watching their futures slip away without even knowing why. There is another ongoing case, Talbott, but the DOJ and DoD have thus far been able to keep its lower court injunction stayed.
This has already resulted in the forced separation of at least hundreds of troops, with thousands more in the separation process as we speak. It is unjust that those who raised their hand to serve their country â and met all standards and qualifications â would lose everything without so much as an opportunity to make their case.

Diversity of Pride Interview Series: Part 1 (Military Pride) đâ¨
@wildsidemediaco had the incredible opportunity to partner with @capitalpridedc and @dclgbtq for WorldPride DC, and we are beyond excited to share our Diversity of Pride interviews with the D.C. community leading up to Pride 2026.
We spoke with the powerhouse leadership behind the city's eight Diversity of Pride organizations about everything from the importance of creating and nurturing safe spaces for our LGBTQIA+ community to what they would say to their 15-year-old self if they could travel back in time.
The result? 10 impactful interviews across eight sibling Prides, with almost 1 million people hearing from D.C.'s queer leadership on the big screen at official WorldPride DC events.
And now, we're kicking off the Diversity of Pride Interview Series with Military Pride leadership. We pulled some of our favorite moments from former ED Commander Emily Shilling and @sparta.pride program director Cathy Marcello's conversation at @thelinehotel . Stay tuned for the full interview, live on all @wildsidemediaco platforms this month.
Check out the link in @wildsidemediaco 's bio or visit givebutter.com/milpride2026 to learn more about D.C.'s second annual Military & Veteran Pride.
