Umatik, French DJ and producer, merges the power of Electroclash with the dark discipline of EBM, crafting an intense universe and an aesthetic deeply inspired by the 1980s — from Italo-disco to New Wave and rock. He notably appeared in collaboration with Back From The Wave on the Various “Buone Vacanze” released on the Bordello A Parigi label.
His latest EP on Space Factory evokes urban alienation, with a cold desire in the track “My True Crush”, and Punk-meets-EBM energy driven by his saturated vocals in “Dear Lonely Devil.” On “Cold Hard Cash”, the raw force of electronics is fully unleashed, without compromise.

C’est en 1988, que tout commence pour David Carretta. Il débute le Djing avec son ami Xavier Vincent et fondent la même année Art Kinder Industrie, l’un des premiers groupes EBM en France. En 1994, il sort son premier maxi « L.S.D. / You Can » sur Harthouse. Après avoir participé aux débuts d’International Deejay Gigolo Records de Dj Hell, en 1996 il en devient la première signature en compagnie de Dj Naughty. Sur le même label, il sortira deux albums : « Le Catalogue électronique » en 1999 et « Kill Your Radio » en 2004. Suivront d’autres albums et plusieurs maxis sur Zone, Blackstrobe Records, Libertine Records, Mille Feuilles, Unknown Pleasures Records, GND, Rave Or Die… Et dernièrement une collaboration avec Kiko sur Mélopée Records : « Future Is Your Love ». Le passionné de synthés vintage et de SF nous en dit plus sur ses influences croisées punk - rock des années 80 ; sa période hard techno liée au label marseillais Thrust Records ; les débuts du phénomène Electroclash et l’épopée Gigolo, l’esprit de son label Space Factory co-fondé avec sa compagne Gigi Succes ; ainsi que sa vision de la scène et ses projets.
