Yesterday we said goodbye to our very own Spaceport Cornwall education superstar, Fritha Durham.
With funding challenges, weâre pausing the programme for now, but today is about celebrating an incredible educator.
Fritha, you always said education isnât just what you do, itâs who you are, and that shows in the tens of thousands of students youâve inspired.
From assemblies and rocket tours to workshops, work experience and exchanges, thank you.
For turning ârecyclingâ into rockets and rovers, thank you.
For your energy and endless enthusiasm toward watching the latest launch, science mission, seeing the aurora borealis etc, thank you.
Your impact on Cornwall will last for generations!
(And yes⌠weâre watching Artemis II⌠đ)
The @t.e.c.girls Reach for the Sky Festival is returning to Cornwall Airport Newquay on 20 & 21 June 2026.âď¸

Behind every career in space is often someone who sparked the curiosity first - a parent, a teacher, a mentor, or someone who simply gave their time. Not every young person has that at home, which is why programmes like STEM Ambassadors are so powerful.
If you work in (or around) the space sector and want to make a real difference, giving just an hour of your time could help inspire the next generation of space explorers here in Cornwall and beyond.
You donât need to be an astronaut, just passionate about what you do and willing to share it.

đ Weâre delighted to share that Spaceport Cornwall, operating from @cornwall_airport has been shortlisted by the @europeanspaceagency for the INVICTUS hypersonic test programme. This is a major milestone for the UK and Europeâs future flight ambitions.
INVICTUS will deliver a hypersonic flight test capability unlike anything currently available in Europe.
Working alongside Frazer-Nash Consultancy, weâre proud to support the development of this pioneering platform and help demonstrate Cornwallâs value to the global aerospace community. With our combined status as a licensed spaceport, commercial passenger airport, civil aerodrome, and military operating base, Spaceport Cornwall offers an operational environment that is unmatched for developers of future flight technologies - pairing extensive infrastructure with dedicated airspace.
@noahlawmp for St Austell and Newquay, shared: âINVICTUS would be an immensely welcome, long-term partner for and the kind that such a fine aerospace asset as Spaceport Cornwall - with one of the longest runways in the country and dedicated airspace - deserves.â
Ross Hulbert, Head of Engagement, Spaceport Cornwall: âBeing shortlisted for INVICTUS is a significant moment for Spaceport Cornwall and underscores our commitment to advancing the UKâs future flight and hypersonic ambitions. Our world-class facilities, operational versatility, and strategic position within both civilian and military aviation infrastructures place us in a leading role to support this transformational European programme.â
We extend our thanks to colleagues at Frazer-Nash Consultancy, @europeanspaceagency and the @spacegovuk , and to the national and local leaders whose continued support strengthens Cornwallâs role in the UKâs aerospace future.
