This past week at the University of Illinois Chicago Engineering Expo, Capstone Design teams showcased innovative, real-world solutions developed over two semesters.
Through @cbbelengineers , Spaceco was proud to sponsor three Capstone projects and advise student teams throughout the program.
Highlights included: • A comprehensive site plan for the PsiQuantum Quantum Computing Campus, blending advanced research facilities with community-focused amenities • Infrastructure improvements along the I-290 corridor, including the Laramie Avenue Bridge replacement with a focus on safety, constructability, and long-term performance • Expanded parking solutions for Sawmill Sports Hub, balancing environmental constraints with community input

Yesterday, Spaceco team members attended the topping off ceremony for the 370 N Morgan project in Chicago. This milestone is a great opportunity to recognize the hard work and coordination that continue to move this project forward.

Our team dug into the world of underground detention systems — from corrugated metal pipe (CMP) to plastic chambers. We also explored local case studies that showed how smart design can tackle stormwater challenges while cutting costs, and we took a closer look at hydrodynamic separators (HDS) as powerful tools for meeting water quality and permitting requirements.
The session gave our team new ideas and practical strategies that will help us deliver even better solutions for our clients.
