ACT 3 – DESTINATION NAMIBIA 🇳🇦 📍 Next stop: Walvis Bay! This is the legendary speed spot where Paul Larsen and his team set the current record in 2012: 65.45 knots (121 km/h) with Vestas Sailrocket II. And now, it’s our turn to sail on this mythical stretch of water. Why now? Going to Namibia before the boat was fully tuned would have been premature. Thanks to Leucate, all critical adjustments are done, and today everything is ready: the boat, the team, and the logistics. We’re grateful to our long-standing partners who all continue to support us in this new chapter and are looking for new allies to join our record family. À Leucate, nous avons énormément appris et réalisé des modifications qu’il aurait été impossible de faire en Namibie. Aujourd’hui, le bateau est proche de son plein potentiel et l’équipe est prête. For us, it took 2 years 🤓 Two years of learning, testing, failing, trying again, and optimizing — until we hit 107 km/h and joined the world’s top 5 fastest boats 🚀 @leucate.tourisme , you gave us the wind, the space, the lessons, and so many unforgettable encounters: we owe you so much! Despite the boat’s incredible performances at the end of May, we’ve had to make the toughest decision yet: we’re ending our sailing campaign in Leucate. It’s hard on the team — we were so close! We just needed a bit more wind and time. But hey, that’s the game we chose to play: we can’t control the weather. Now, we need to take the time to explore the best path forward. We’re not giving up on the dream, and we’ll do everything in our power to launch a new sailing campaign. Thank you all for sticking with us 💙 And a very special thanks to our partners, SP80 alumni, and friends — from the very first sketch of the boat to its latest 50+ knot runs, you’ve been by our side, and we owe you so much. This has been an incredible ride and and we can’t wait to write the next record-breaking chapter together 🙏 Malgré les performances impressionnantes du bateau ce printemps, nous avons pris la difficile décision de mettre fin à notre campagne de navigation à Leucate. C’est un coup dur pour l’équipe — on y était presque ! Il nous a manqué un peu de vent et de temps… mais c’est le jeu : on ne peut pas contrôler la météo. Il est temps pour nous de prendre du recul, d’accepter d’être patients et de réfléchir à la meilleure manière d’écrire la suite. Nous ferons tout ce qui est en notre pouvoir pour lancer une nouvelle campagne dans les meilleures conditions possibles et, enfin, aller chercher ce record.
