🎧 ON for healing subs 🔉 The case is getting close to be complete and it's starting to show! Here's a lil jam of wonky/psychedelic 160 dubstep with some new percs and distorsions (tysm @sovageengineering for your amazing modules 🤤) and the new HPN model by @ohmforceofficial Live mix is still not quite balanced yet but getting there a bit more each time ☼ Sequencer @squarpinstruments Modules @sovageengineering @forge__tme @ohmforceofficial @instruomodular

Cranton — new patch, new system logic. Built around Rung Divisions from Fancy Synthesis. It’s not just a clock divider — it’s a routing brain. Divisions of the master clock get split across two buses, summed in different ways, while a built-in shift register spits out semi-deterministic CV. So you get this balance: structured timing + evolving voltages that can lock into loops until you nudge them loose again. That “almost repeating, almost drifting” thing is the core of the patch. Bass comes from Incus (Noise Engineering), running through the Schlappi 100 Grit — adding that unstable, tearing edge. I’m feeding a derivative of the lead (via Jena) into the second input of the 100 Grit, so the bass gets pushed and pulled by the lead’s harmonic content. It’s not subtle — it’s this gritty, interwoven mess that somehow still grooves. Leads are handled in the Leibniz domain, routed through Bruxa (Make Noise), giving it that animated, slightly feral character. There’s also a second, more unstable lead voice from Vhikk — took me a while to get along with that module, but once it clicks, it really delivers. Raw, feedback-heavy, very alive. Chord fragments are coming from Multiwave into PolyMaths (Make Noise), shaped and smeared through the Zlob VCF-3DB, then pushed deep into reverb. Lots of feedback paths, filtering, small modulations — nothing static. Rhythm section is a bit of a hybrid: Metalloid (SSF) + Binome (Sovage Engineering), both driven by derived triggers from Rung Divisions. Mixed and then smashed through Collide 4, which adds this shifting FM/pitch-modulated layer that drifts in and out of focus. Whole patch sits in that zone between control and chaos — where repetition turns into variation just by touching a switch. #roelfunckenmusic #idmmusic #eurorackmodular

Fect New patch, new system language. Unfolds like a tightly interlocked mesh—precision-engineered chaos built from the metallic pulse of steady-state ultra-perc and the raw circuitry of Sovage Engineering’s Binome. Everything feeds into a high-velocity algorithm, constantly mutating, never settling—like it’s thinking faster than you can follow. Underneath, it breathes. A stripped-down BOHM kick holds the center—minimal, deliberate. Around it, a snare-clap hybrid emerges from pure noise, flickering in and out with rapid, almost nervous percussion from archers Rig. The low-end speaks in pressure: Incus drives a bassline that feels less played and more extracted. Above that, the Make Noise Multiwave Oscillator shapes evolving chord textures—shifting, scanning, never fully landing. Then the structure fractures. The multiwave layer is pulled apart through multi-grain—time stretched, shattered, reduced to fragments. What remains is negative space, flickers of harmonic memory. And right there, in that opening, the Leibniz lead slips in. Not introduced—revealed. A dense, unstable signal born from the Leibniz system—complex, almost alien. Its spectral fingerprint is captured and refracted through the Spectraphon, stretched out with a long gain envelope. What you hear is not a copy, but a shadow—related, but reinterpreted. The two voices circle each other, syncing, diverging, rejoining—like a form of spectral FM that’s constantly rewriting itself. It’s controlled, but only just. Something in the modular language is shifting—less about sound design as an object, more about interaction as a living system. #roelfunckenmusic #idmmusic #eurorackmodular #electronicmusic #idm

New patch, new track today: PJOTR This one started with source material from my man EXM. He sent over a piece he was working on and asked me to reinterpret it, so I took it into the modular and let things evolve from there. What you hear in the beginning is a short moment where his world and mine kind of phase into each other — fragments of his textures morphing before the modular machinery slowly takes over. The funny part is that his original runs at a very different tempo than my version, but somehow the transition still glues together nicely. At a certain point the grid locks in and the track settles into a steady pulse: a solid kick coming from OhmForce, with a snare/percussive FM hit from Ultra-Perc carving through the mix. Toward the end you can still hear some loose fractal remnants of his original material floating around. Then the Sovage Engineering section starts to creep in with these slightly distorted low-end textures that push the weight of the track downwards. After that the Multi-Wave appears with these strange clustered chords. I often ask him what chord the track is in. The honest answer is usually: there isn’t really one. It’s more like a constellation of notes that just happen to coexist in the same gravitational field. Somehow that still gives me enough to work with. Low-end duties are handled by a seriously growling bass from the Vhikk VCO, which really sets the mood. On top of that there’s a whole ecosystem of FM textures: metallic hits from Metalloid, more percussive FM from Ultra-Perc, and the bass harmonics interacting with all of that. The result is this dense, slightly aggressive wall of sound. For the lead I leaned on the Leibniz system from Xaoc Devices. It spits out these slightly unstable melodic fragments that occasionally drift into something that almost feels like an Arabic scale or court melody. Just sent the track back to EXM to see what he thinks. I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out. #roelfunckenmusic #eurorackmodular #idmmusic #idm #electronicmusic
