Source/Filterās 2nd season has finally arrived! š»
Following our two thrilling fall shows, we wrap up the season with a spring double-bill production WITH ORCHESTRA
The Maestro (+ other Italian/American works)
Sat May 30th @ 7:30PM
Venue TBA (a historic Pasadena-area theatre)
This comic intermezzo by D. Cimarosa lampoons a self-important conductor who canāt stop talking long enough to rehearse. Performed in a lively new English translation by Britta Sterling (with a dash of Italian), baritone/conductor Caleb Yanez Glickman takes on the rare challenge of conducting *and* starring as the flustered Maestro.Ā
The evening opens with chamber, vocal, and orchestral works by Italian/American composers, featuring players from the Terrible Adult Chamber Orchestra (TACO) and South Pasadena Arts & Music Academy alongside Source/Filter vocalists. Tickets on sale later this fall⦠stay tuned!
š¼ He thinks heās in control. The orchestra disagrees.
The Maestro is what happens when ego meets 17 live musicians⦠and neither backs down. šµāš«š» Based on Cimarosaās razor-sharp comic opera, this Source/Filter Music production throws you straight into rehearsal chaosāwhere the conductor lectures, sings, spirals, and somehow keeps (barely) holding it together.
Baritone Caleb Yanez Glickman delivers a tour-de-force performanceācommanding, comedic, and completely unravelling in real timeāsurrounded by a live orchestra performing Rossini, Menotti, Tesori, Giacchino, and more. No microphones. No safety net. Just sound, ego, and absolute unpredictability. š„
One room. One orchestra. One man losing the argument with music itself.

Meet our singers for THE MAESTRO!Ā
Caleb Yanez Glickman stars in the titular role for this short 25-minute "mini-opera" about an Italian conductor and his unwieldy orchestra. The piece will be paired with a short program of musical theatre and classical songs by Italian/Italian-American composers, performed by instrumentalists alongside our soloists: Rachel Yeo (soprano), Rae Shrum (mezzo-soprano), and Eric Castro (baritone).
This is Source/Filter's FIRST show with orchestra, but we need your help to make it happen! We have until May 1st to reach our goal of $5000! Please consider donating at sourcefiltermusic.org (or by visiting the link on our bio!)
Weāre bringing THE MAESTRO to the beautiful @sierra.madre.playhouse , a historic, intimate theater nestled at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Known for its warm acoustics and close-up audience experience, itās the perfect setting for an evening where classical concert meets theatrical comedy! Mark your calendars for May 30th at 8PM.
P.S. We're still fundraising for our orchestra, and we ONLY have $500 to go! Can you contribute to help us make this show a reality? sourcefiltermusic.org/donate

Meet our funny, fierce, and fearless MAESTRO! Caleb Yanez Glickman will lead the charge in Source/Filter's orchestral debut.
We're so thrilled to have Caleb singing and conducting *simultaneously* in this unique show about an Italian conductor and his wayward American orchestra. With a new English-Italian translation by Britta Sterling, this show will bring the comedy to life with a unique twist--exploring the challenges of navigating language barriers in the arts!
WE NEED YOUR HELP to make it happen! Source/Filter still has to raise $3000 by May 1st to fund our orchestra for this unique production.
