July is up! Pastiche (@sortitoutjason ) coming in hot with an hour of poly-rhythmic tempo jumping across deep cuts.
“This set was inspired by countless experiences watching morning break through the windows at Nowadays, one of my favorite clubs. The shift in energy as the sunlight begins illuminating the fog has always been my favorite part of the night, and my favorite artists have used that moment to whip the crowd into a euphoric frenzy before the end of their time.
I wanted to capture some of that with airy, melodic elements that lead into moody dub tracks for those contemplative moments on the dance floor. I wanted to also incorporate a switch in energy and tempo in the middle that’s inspired by memories of pushing through exhaustion (and back pain) to rejoin the floor when a set really kicks off in the early hours.”

Raised in Boston and based in Brooklyn, pastiche is a Chinese-American DJ whose lifelong passion for dance music is reflected in his genre-agnostic selections, informed by years of collecting records and participating in vibrant underground scenes in New York and abroad.
Foundationally grounded in reverence for UK sound system culture and a love of experimental sounds, pastiche’s sets explore the interplay between various styles of music with tracks that blur the lines between genres to craft unique stories for the dance floor. Never content on settling for one lane, his mixes often traverse multiple influences ranging from techno, dubstep, breakbeat, electro, and drum & bass with a playful, restless approach that’s self-described as the result of unmedicated childhood ADHD.
