ZAMAKANNAN is a video about the community around Sorte Firkant. The video draws an intimate portrait of the people and the everyday life surrounding the square. The film is a sequel to the long-term project Zamakan (TimeSpace), developed by Hatem and Dirckinck-Holmfeld since 2018. Zamakan explores the notion of what we term the contrapuntal image – an image that enfolds different spaces and times within its texture and materiality. Zamakan was followed by Reehet Reef (Smell of Nature), 2022, an intimate audio-memory of Jenin, Palestine. ZAMAKANNAN is an attempt to register everything that has happened to the community since we shot Zamakan in 2018, and to reflect on how the atrocities we are witnessing are inscribed in everyday life.

Ruby presents “in leeway” - a one-person theater performance exploring the concept of empathy through intimate storytelling and poetry. From the perspective of a survivor living “in leeway”, this personal piece examines the space between survival and equality, finding freedom in the margins where meaning persists despite overwhelming constraints.
Ruby / Rou Green is a Lebanese-born multidisciplinary artist based in Copenhagen. Her work, ranging from painting to theater and writing, explores the worlds we carry inside us, transforming personal narratives into social connections.
Duration: 30 minutes. Language: Primarily English with Arabic elements.
