could probably market myself better if i picked one specialty and stuck to it, but i just really love capturing a range of moments, events and people - road trips, blurry nights, music festivals, friends, strangers, little moments that feel worth keeping for no real reason other than they felt good at the time.

A very cool lady. A family legend. An OG for LGBTQ rights. Unafraid of living and loving authentically. Always kind and caring. I spent so much time at her house growing up, and she was a constant in my life, one of the only structures I had that NEVER disappeared. Because she had no children of her own, my mom was very close with her, and so were myself and my brothers. She was so fun, really. She could party like no one else, stayed up late no matter her age, played cards like a shark and hosted pool parties every year for the whole family as a center to safely connect. Rita was one of the few people I had to look up to growing up, and I am sad for world’s loss of her.
&& I grew up obsessed with her house, she kept it vintage (original) in all the places that mattered. Kept around and collected things that made her smile in an organized way, it was my first exposure to “aesthetic”. It was playful but in a restrained way, artful where it fit properly. I see the way my own home reflects hers in nearly every way with pops of color, clashing textures and elements that somehow fit. She had an eye for design that I wish I could have explored more with her. A collector who truly loved her things.
I spent hours of my life admiring her collection of bronze and ceramic ladies. The ladies sparked early awakenings to my own fluid sexuality and deep appreciation for the art of a woman’s form. I always thought - how cool, to love something so much as she did women - to just openly have an example in each room - and always dreamed that I would be passed down the ladies. I am incredibly thankful to have a brother who is doing the hard work of sorting rescuing retrieving the things I grew up admiring so much so that ladies can live on in a house of love.
I will think of Rita often and honor her by loving largely, being my truest self and displaying her collection like treasures in my own home as soon as I can. 🖤

A weekend spent introducing my sister to the place I’ve called home for almost 5 years now, letting the landscape and people do its work to convince her to make the move 🫀
My gal turned 91 today and I am feeling so lucky I’ve gotten to spend this much time with her! She’s lived in 3 states, climbed literal mountains, survived 3 surgeries and kept me alive. She’s a little deaf and a little blind now, but her little brother has revived her this past year like no one’s business so I look forward to another few with this queen 👸
