This is the first official event that will be hosted at our new studio space! We are so excited to celebrate our soft opening with you 🤲🏽 Sound House is an immersive, music-centered gathering that transforms space into a living archive of sound, memory, and connection. Rooted in the textures of Black and diasporic sonic traditions, this event invites guests to listen deeply, move freely, and exist in rhythm with one another. Held in tandem with the Black Lesbian Listening Room, this vinyl collage workshop invites participants to engage sound as both material and memory. using recycled records, 45s (provided by @sook.vinyl ) sleeves, and found imagery, participants will cut, layer, and reassemble fragments of music culture into tactile visual compositions. Blending elements of a listening room, social lounge, and intimate creative space, Sound House centers intentional curation—from soulful cuts and ambient grooves to bass-heavy selections that carry the pulse of the room. Each set and activity is designed to guide participants through a collective journey of feeling, release, and presence. More than an event, Sound House is a container for community—a place where sound and creativity become tools for grounding, reflection, and joy. Whether you come to dance, to listen, or to create, the space holds you. Get your tickets at the link in our bio!

1962. By this point, Coleman Hawkins had already changed jazz history multiple times. The tenor saxophone before Hawk and after Hawk are practically two different instruments. But Today And Now is different. This is not the sound of a musician trying to innovate in public. This is the sound of a master settling deeper into himself. No urgency. No proving. No race toward modernity. Just presence. Released during the golden Impulse! era, the album drifts through late-night blues phrasing, smoked-glass balladry, and mature restraint with impossible elegance. Hawk sounds completely at peace inside the music — letting space, breath, and harmonic weight carry the conversation. And visually? The cover says everything. High contrast monochrome. Shadowed expression. The kind of design language Impulse perfected when jazz became both sound and atmosphere simultaneously. This is elder-state jazz. Architect music. The sound of experience no longer needing explanation. RECLAIM & REDISTRIBUTE. DM TO CLAIM.
