Carnaval Pessoal, 2021
Cyanotype and confetti on paper, 6 ft x 12 ft
During quarantine, the one thing I've done consistently while continuously being at home is have personal dance parties in my room. During such stressful and dark times, dancing allowed me to be in the moment and have fun. It's also
given me the confidence to be more unapologetic about my
movements and be more like the people I admire most, people who dance in public despite everyone watching and judging. To gain the confidence of my role models, I bought a disco ball, and every day since receiving it in the mail it has set the tone and ambiance for my personal carnaval.
this peice was exhibited at @icamiami in march of 2021 (a really old piece i never shared) at their program Young Artist Initiative’s show “It’s My Party and Ill Cry If I Want To”, this piece jumpstarted my entire cyanotype practice and i will always deeply love and care for this work and all the opportunities that came of presenting and sharing this 🥳❤️

Death Drop is on view now! 🌀💫💋
It feels like such a long time coming, and I can’t believe the time is finally here where this work gets to be seen by the world 🥹. I’m so grateful to all those who sat for portraits, critiqued the work and writing, and who served as support as I made these images 💋🤩. This is not the end of death drop, nor the series coming to a close, but just the beginning of this draggy, colorful, funky world. 🕺⭐️👩🎤
The gallery is open monday through friday, 9am-5pm, and will be until November 21st. This friday, november 7th, from 4:30 to 6 pm, there is a public gallery reception to celebrate my debut and I hope to see everyone there. It is free and open to the public, 1601 W Mt Royal, Baltimore, MD 21217.
