Packed days of demos, fun jams, and inspiring conversations. From finishing the Synplant and Beatspace boxes the night before we left to packing up on the last day, we barely had a moment to breathe, and loved every second of it.
For the Project Area at Sónar+D (Barcelona, June 12th to 14th, 2025), we’re showing two physical installations: Synplant and Beatspace (for Microtonic).

This Christmas, our servers worked overtime, generating thousands and thousands of unique patch packages.
We used a new experimental version of Genopatch to generate 30 individual Synplant patches for each of you, while Patternarium was used to create the Microtonic packages.

I’ve been working on a new BP album. I’m excited about it, but I’ve abandoned it a couple times. I feel it’s unethical to waste people’s time with music you don’t think is dope.
Anyway, there’s a song on this album that samples a single note of Stevie Wonder’s voice. I really love the way it sounds. There’s so much life and communication in Stevie Wonder’s singing.
The sample is just one note, but it carries… I don’t know how to describe it… Exultation? Ecstasy? Hope? Yearning? I don’t know.
There’s a current of feeling in it. Feeling is all I care about.
One of my friends suggested I try to reach Stevie Wonder himself and make a direct plea. But stating the obvious, I am worlds away from that guy. I wish!
So, knowing that we could probably never afford to clear a sample of Stevie Wonder, I knew I had to find an alternative source for this sound.
My solution ultimately was to reconstitute the sound with @soniccharge ’s groundbreaking Synplant 2 software.
For lack of a better explanation, this technology basically gets “inside” a sound at the “dna” level. It allows you to create and manipulate sonic textures in a way never before available.
I’m a huge lover of analog gear and I almost always prefer analog tech to digital, but I’m really impressed by and grateful for the amazing strides that are happening in the digital world.
