Pushing the pedals with the older songo tots. It's great to see them graduating from balance bikes to pedal bikes. #songo #songoinfo

Race Report: WP BMX from Zone 7 On Sunday, 3 May 2026, 12 riders and coach Ntlantla Nonkasa travelled to the Zone 7 BMX Club to take part in the Western Province BMX race number 7. songo.info was represented by Mihlali Sturman, Iyonke Mlenze, Yonke Mlenze, Melokuhle Jikajika, LImyoli Mdletye, Anelisa Mathafeni, Aka Mvakwendlu, Silindokuhle Mxhaka, Alu Mathafeni, Azukiwe Mwezeni, Alunamida Madlatu, and Avuyile Relegusha. songo.info had a few newbies in the squad, with riders in the youngest age category racing for the first time. We arrived at the race with enough time to register and take part in the course practise before the racing got underway at 10:00. For songo.info, things kicked off with the 7-8 year old Novice Boys category. This event featured 3 heats and a final in each category. 6 songo kids made it to the finals, but 6 unfortunately missed out. Anelisa won the Under 16 Novice Girls division, Silindokuhle was 4th, and Limyoli was 5th in the 11-12 Years Novice Girls. In the Under 15 Novice Boys, Azukiwe finished 2nd. The best part of the day was that both of the songo.info newbies got to the finals and earned spots on the podium. First timers, Yonke and Melokuhle finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 7-8 Years Novice Boys category. All in all, the team had a nearly perfect weekend of racing, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the race. Thank you to the sponsors of songo.info who made the trip possible! And a special thanks to the Zone 7 BMX Club for hosting the event.

Bonnievale XCO Race Report: On Saturday, 7th May 2026, 7 riders travelled to Bonnievale to take part in the Western Cape XCO Race, under the guidance of Ntlantla Nonkasa. The team travelled there by taxi, leaving Stellenbosch at 5am, and songo.info was represented by Ovayo Ntsenge, Awethu Mtekeli, Akho Mayekiso, Mihlali Stuurman, Yongama Mdletye, Zinam Seti, and Avuyile Relegusha. Despite the long drive, the team arrived nice and early, and were able to register and get a few practice laps in before the racing got underway at 8am. songo.info's first riders only started at 9:40, when Mihlali and Akho raced in the Sprog Boys category. Both managed to complete all 4 laps without any issues. Mihlali finished in 26th position and Akho in 37th. 11:15am Youth Men started, and songo.info had 4 riders in that race. 3 of them rode well and finished the race, while Zinam had a very bad start, snapping his chain halfway through lap one. Unfortunately, as a result, he wasn't able to finish the race. The rest of the riders rode well, with Ovayo finishing 30th, Awethu 40th, and Avuyile in 51st position. The last race of the day took place at 14:00 with Yongama taking part in the Junior Men's category. The race was scheduled for 7 laps, but he only managed to complete 3 laps while nursing a mechanical, which slowed him down significantly. Overall, Ntlantla was very happy with how the kids rode as well as with the sportsmanship they showed. Everyone learnt valuable lessons too, which will serve them well in the upcoming events. Thank you to the charity's sponsors who made the trip to Bonnievale XCO possible. They include Ninety One, Biogen, and the organisers of the Western Cape XCO series.
