The Foundation of ART NYC (
@artnyc_inc ) presents “Song E Yoon: Songs Across Time”, an exhibition curated by Seohyun Kang, featuring works by Song E Yoon (
@songeyoon_ ) and Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, presented as a Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
Spanning 10,000 years of human history, the exhibition brings together two artists whose practices converge around a shared question: how do humans record memory, and how does that recording shape who we are? Bouabré – who dedicated his life to safeguarding the oral traditions of Côte d’Ivoire and invented the Bété Alphabet as a system to make memory permanent – is placed in dialogue with Song E Yoon’s petroglyph-like paintings and installations, in which ancient symbols are re-inscribed through luminous marks across walls and space. One a “language of recording”, the other a “language of journey.”
