It’s not my first portrait of @ebenetzebeth4 . It’s not even my first cover shot of Eben. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with him many times throughout my career. But this cover image, aside from being an enormous honour, is so much more than just a portrait for me.
It’s a hug for my former self - the shy little blonde entering the saturated Cape Town industry with some experience, a quiet confidence, and a huge amount of self-doubt.
It’s a forgiving smile to the one who said I wasn’t cut out for this; I didn’t have the charisma.
It’s a handshake to the creative director who told me if I didn’t like his standard lighting brief I could walk off set and be replaced.
It’s a high five to all the amazing people I’ve come to know, and grow with through this industry, both on and off camera.
And it’s a fistpump to future-me - a reminder to back myself.
