💡CROWDFUNDER LIVE TOMORROW💡
Thematic teaser for Something Wicked with @charlielaceyharrison
Lit and shot by @fluxinlux ——. #shortfilm #independentfilm #crowdfunder #backstage #shakespeare
The rehearsal room becomes a battle ground between Jem and Robin. Initially, Jem is pushed to the edge of the frame, obscured by others, insignificant in the shadow of Robin’s celebrity. But, in his understudy rehearsals, Jem comes alive. There’s a sense of freedom, expression, energy - which contrasts with what Robin’s rehearsals become: tense, nauseous and heady under fluorescent lights, as they yet again run late into the night.

While West End theatres well-maintain their grand exteriors, the same can’t be said for the backstage of many. The walls have aged brick and peeling paper, worn from years of absorbing anxious sweats. The dressing rooms appear as 60’s prison cells, providing bathroom, shower, wardrobe, dresser and bed in 12 square feet. The otherwise plain walls are often well decorated with a combination of past and present owners’s cards, books, scripts, mugs. The glow of the vanity mirror washes the room warm and dark - a dingy, claughstrophobic atmosphere, with your reflection at every turn; an environment well suited to festering insecurity, and insanity.
