Written in the style of confessional poetry, “i guess i am floating...” paints an intimate portrait of the uncertainty of building a career and discovering new layers of self-worth as a Black creative in America. Rhythmic imagery depicts the struggle with tenderness and grace without shying away from the truths of the author’s experience that are accessible to every facet of the human condition. It is a documentation of both pain and power, of both failure and triumph — a celebration of self-acceptance amid criticism and self-doubt.
