I felt moved yesterday morning - after hearing a BBC report about the continued practice of female genital mutilation, and after hearing about the disgusting Epstein files non-stop last week - to reach out to my former EMBARK partner Sol Miranda. For two special years EMBARK hosted a Valentine’s Day - V Day event: 1 BILLION RISING to raise attention to violence against women around the world.
I feel the need to gather with women and the men who love us here in the community once again to demand justice for the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and for those – especially women and children – who have been unlawfully detained, beaten, harassed by ICE! and to acknowledge the violence perpetrated against women across our world historically and continuously.
Sol agreed immediately to help organize a V Day rally / protest in Peekskill this Saturday - February 14 morning. Join us at the Peekskill gazebo at 10:45 am for songs, short speeches, perhaps a poem or a dance. Wear some pink or red and make a powerful yet joyful sign!
We will stand together against those that would hurt or silence any of us.
