Soli Pierce

After a hectic schedule of prepping for Thanksgiving, I welcomed a therapeutic drive to Beacon, NY and a surprise visit with Soli Pierce. The circle, a recurring motif in her work, symbolizes time, harmony, inclusivity, and a portal inward. It was the necessary centering that I appreciated. Inspired by the natural world’s inherent balance and mystery, unEarthed bridges personal and environmental narratives. This multi-dimensional exhibit is at BAU Gallery through Dec. 7 when she will host a closing event. From 11-11:30am, there’ll be a Shaman Circle Meditation with Lawrence Tan and a sculpture by Kurt Steger. @solipierce @stegerkurt @baugallery

Sound Forest/ Between Worlds opens 3/8 @kinosaito where we have been in residency since January with the amazing support of the Kino team, and an @artswestchester grant to share this third iteration of deep listening, sensing and exploring the metaphorical forest. RSVP for opening 4-6pm on 3/8. Installation opens 3/8 - 5/18, along with a wide array of programming we have developed. We look forward to sharing these events with you. Working in collaboration with Bruce Odland @tanksounds for the past 3 years has us both living between worlds, and we are incredibly grateful to have had the build time, and physical space to create this piece for you to explore. We could have never dreamed that a soft opening of our idea built outside in our backyard studio in late 2023 would bring us 3 back to back 3 month Sound Forest installations. A huge thank you to everyone who came @baugallery this past weekend to celebrate the opening of three shows, BAU Invitational, Surprise Garden @karen.allen.artist and Stillness Speaks. I’m deeply honored and grateful to the friends, collectors, and supporters who came from near and far to experience Stillness Speaks, my installation dedicated to the memory of Mark Goldfarb. @joanwilson99 One of the threads that runs through this exhibition is love. Love for my dear friend, love for the planet, the natural elements are part of my practice, it nurtures and sustain us, and love expressed through community, connection, and care. In that spirit, a percentage of proceeds from works sold will be donated to @transformationkitchenorg Transformation Kitchen, a new nonprofit in Beacon founded by my friend at @hudsonvalleykitchen , and dedicated to helping transform the lives of marginalized populations through viable employment opportunities. Thrilled the big piece in window found a home opening night. Ty. The opening also ended with a heartfelt surprise: a visit from fellow @thecritlab @elizabethmlindy , who rushed over from her own wonderful show to offer her well wishes at the very end of the evening. I’m feeling blessed beyond measure. BAU gives us complete freedom and unrestricted opportunity to dream, and invent. Fortunately I have had the curatorial vision of Karlyn @kb_creativeconsulting , her steady hard allows me have the inner space for next steps. This is my 3rd project with her, she helps me thread the needle. Ty Karlyn, my art anchor. Soli Pierce Stillness Speaks - May 8 - June 7th @baugallery Soli Pierce is an American interdisciplinary artist known for immersive installations, sculpture, encaustic painting, photography, and found-object assemblage that explore humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Her recent work blends natural materials — wood, moss, bark, beeswax, sound, and light — into large sensory environments meant to encourage reflection and ecological awareness. In my exhibition Stillness Speaks, sculpture, photography, and encaustic painting come together in an exploration of light and the still point that can anchor us in fractured times. Nature is the foundation of my practice—an enduring source of wisdom, strength, and guidance. Rooted in vulnerability, transformation, and quiet resilience, this work is shaped by natural processes. Informed by light, and by materials marked by wind, water, and time, the work emerges through a deep trust in nature’s sentient intelligence. Working with organic and found materials, I treat each element a living participant, finding the still point within. In Gallery 1. BAU Invitational 2026, each of us invited another artist. One is @bouyoucos who recently was awarded and installed the breathtaking Peekskill waterfront arches, Above the Fruited Plain, the brilliant @meghitchcockartist , and others. Spring at the Lab. Revitalizing my sculpture pieces and enjoying time at my favorite art haven @lostandfoundlab . Huge thanks to @mrdavidamiller for guiding us through creative exercises that sparked new possibilities. What I cherish about the LAB is the rich creative dialogue that inspires my own practice, beautifully nurtured by Janine and Josie's vision. Artist talk and last chance to see Performative Stories @flinngallery_greenwich , this compelling exhibit employs colorful figures and motion to express varied narratives. I've spent a few hours in the installation over a few visits. All artists invite you in, to complete or be part of these captivating stories. @maikokikuchi_nyc colorful collages and animations are whimsical and enchanting. A delightful discovery finding out we both were AIR @kinosaito last year, worked in the same studio space, and both huge Mikiko fans. ARTIST TALK today @2 with @dhurlin254 and Janie Geisler. I saw Dan talk about his brilliant install, so I know this will be intriguing as well. Janie's video piece is very engaging. Imagine what she will share and bring us all deeper into these stories. @visualanthropology1 Jason Gardner's ceremonial carnival photos from around the world and video took me deep into realms of rich cultural rituals, grab the book if there are any left.
