"When people are displaced, home becomes something internalized. It is no longer just a house, or country. It becomes more than a memory. It is a collection of smells, prayers, sounds, feelings and taste. This internalized home is kept within us, bringing our "home" to where we reside. When it's time to return to the home we are familiar with, we find it altered by time, by war, by survival. Now, the home we held so close to our hearts doesn't exist anymore and we're left feeling like a visitor in our own home.
This exhibition is an opportunity to allow artists to express their internalized "home" into art and show others how the home they remembered looks, feels, sounds or tastes.
As a viewer, you are invited to connect with and remember the internalized home within you that you may have forgotten."
