🌍💡Today is International Day of Light. It's a moment to celebrate the #innovations making light accessible to all, because every time someone switches on a #solar powered light, it’s an instant win for people and the planet. Each solar light means parents can earn, children can learn and the planet can breathe a bit easier. At SolarAid, we’re committed to reaching the hardest-to-reach places and the poorest communities to ensure that 100% of people can get access to safe, affordable light. Are you with us, 100%? Please visit the link in bio and join us today. #LightDay2025 #IDL2025 #SDG7

💡Today is International Day of Light ✨ But across rural sub-Saharan Africa, only around one in three people has access to electricity. That means when the sun goes down, millions of children can no longer study, families are left in the dark, and everyday life becomes harder and less safe. But there is hope 💛 In Namanongo, Zambia, 14-year-old Given dreams of becoming president one day. But without reliable electricity, studying after dark is a challenge. Now, through our Energy-as-a-Service pilot in Zambia, solar power is coming to Given’s community - helping children keep learning, families feel safer, and new opportunities grow after sunset. Today on #InternationalDayofLight we are reminded that light is about so much more than electricity ✨ A single light can open up a world of possibility. 👉 Read Given’s full story via the link in bio.

🌍 This Earth Day marks the start of a limited-time appeal where your donation can go twice as far. Helping reach more communities across Madagascar with solar power. Children like Erica and Landry can study after dark. Entrepreneurs like Carel are building livelihoods. Families feel safer, with clean, reliable light. These are the everyday changes solar makes possible. Right now, every donation is doubled, helping reach more communities in Madagascar. 👉 Find out more and support the campaign via the link in our bio. — Featuring (by image): Slide 2 - Erica and Landry Erica (13) and her brother Landry (10), studying at home in Analavory, using a solar-powered lamp. Energy poverty is a women’s issue. Across Sub-Saharan Africa, millions of households still live without reliable electricity. And in many communities, women carry the greatest burden - spending hours each day collecting fuel and managing household energy needs. But women are also driving the solution. Across the region, women entrepreneurs are bringing solar lighting, clean cookstoves, and other energy solutions to the communities that need them most. They’re not just energy users. They’re energy leaders. This International Women’s Day, it’s worth remembering: expanding energy access is also about expanding opportunity for women. ⚡ When women have energy, communities thrive. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInEnergy #EnergyAccess #EnergyPoverty #CleanEnergy #GenderEquality #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateSolutions

"There is nothing that can limit me." When we first met Ethel Bottomani in 2021, she was the only woman in the room. A 22-year-old farmer, tailor, and youth leader in Chanje Village, Malawi, she had just joined SolarAid’s SunnyMoney #Malawi Light a Village programme as a Customer Service Representative. Sitting at the front of a room full of men, she spoke about the power of solar lighting, and how people in her community wanted homes filled with light, just like in the towns. Four years later, Ethel’s life, and her community, has transformed. #Solar lighting helped her earn income, expand her tailoring business, and support her farming. Her children can study at night. Families save money once spent on batteries. And homes across the village are now lit after dark. Ethel is no longer the only woman in the room. Today, she coordinates clean cookstove initiatives and helps educate communities about protecting forests and the environment. Her message to other women is simple: “They should know that they are able to do any job that can be done by a man.” From one woman in the room to a growing movement, Ethel’s story shows how energy access can spark opportunity, confidence, and change. 👉 Read Ethel's full story at the link in bio. ⚡ #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInEnergy #EnergyAccess #SolarEnergy #CleanEnergy #WomenEmpowerment #Malawi #EnergyForAll

💛 Love at the flick of a switch 💡 Yohane Makhuwalo lives in T/A Kasakula in Malawi and has had a solar home system installed in his house. He says, "Our first night with light was truly special. We gathered as a family and celebrated this new chapter in our lives. We spent the evening chatting, laughing, and sharing stories. My wife, Thandiwe, taught me some tailoring skill. Now, I feel excited to learn and support her in her craft. It was a memorable evening of togetherness and learning." This Valentine’s Day, show a little love that lasts longer than flowers. By giving a gift, you’re helping families access safe, clean light - replacing dangerous and polluting lighting sources with something brighter, healthier, and more hopeful. A small switch. A big impact. Give the gift of light via the link in our bio ✨ #LoveAtTheFlickOfASwitch #ValentinesDay #LightTheWay #SolarAid #GiveLight
