SOL VOYAGE 013 - “PATIENCE” This new DJ mix focuses on songs from the Sol Selectas catalogue which are 8 minutes or longer, songs with a tale to tell, that take time and PATIENCE to unfold, and develop. In today’s attention-deficient world of Tik Tok clips, short stories, viral 10 second clips, and 3 minute long “extended” mixes ( what a joke by the way) I thought it would be fun to go in the opposite direction. I miss the days of a 10 minute long track that has twists and turns, and requires you to pause and really listen deeply.  At the heart of the album is the ✨🛶INDULUNG🛶✨ a handcrafted instrument invented by Adam himself. Named after a boat that can be used from both sides, it reflects the instrument’s multifunctional design. The Indulung blends elements of the oud, Moroccan gembri, tar, saz, and sape—one of Borneo’s most iconic instruments—as well as the bowed Persian kamancheh, harp, melodica, European overtone flutes (seljefløyte / koncovka), kalimba, and percussion. Throughout the album, Adam moves fluidly between these ancient tonalities, revealing the instrument’s remarkable range and versatility. Adam Alydrus’ music drew me in the moment I heard him at the Bali Spirit Festival last year. ✨ These three videos capture that first experience. It was midday with only a small crowd, but the sound was completely captivating. Watching him perform live, I knew there was something special. When he began sharing the story of the Indulung (slide 1) - an instrument he created and built by hand - and showcasing its different sounds, I just had to connect with him. I tried to find him backstage, but he had already left. Thanks to Raio @r_a_i_o I was able to track him down and reach out. A few weeks later, we set up a meeting at Zali @zali.inbali a Lebanese restaurant I already loved, where he was performing regularly. It felt meant to be. ✨ His humility and talent was so pure. To my surprise, when I asked to hear some demos, he sent me a full album with a title, concept, and vision, already completed. We listened to it on repeat. How had this artist not already been released? I knew Sol Selectas was the home for his art.
