🌳 We’re very excited to announce that Soil Cycle will be hosting the DPHHS for a SoilSHOP Event! SoilSHOP stands for Soil Screening, Health, Outreach, and Partnership. It is a community health education program aiming to raise community awareness about lead hazards and how to reduce and prevent lead exposures. ⁉️ So how does it work? 1️⃣ Collect soil from your yard, garden, etc., and bring up to three samples in a clear sealed plastic bag. Be sure the soil is dry and free of debris and plant materials. 2️⃣ Trained staff will test the soil sample using an XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) device to analyze soil samples and provide quick, real-time results. 3️⃣ SoilSHOP staff members will communicate your results to you and provide one-on-one consultation on what your results mean, tips on how to lower and prevent exposures, and resources, as needed. We will have lots of fun activities for you all, as well as staff and community members on site to chat with you about compost, sustainability, access to green space, and growing your own food! And, if any items need a little re-vamp, we’ll have @mpressmt on site offering free screen printing to transform old into new and liven up your wardrobe (-: If you’re hoping to bring some fresh new SKILLS home with you, stop by our natural dye and upcycled paper station to learn how you can turn household items into beautiful, useful, shareable art instead of throwing them in the trash. Plus - we all feel it - spring is in the air! A time for growth, change, reconnecting with the earth, and getting our hands in the dirt. Stop by our Soil Cycle station to plant some seeds in the healthiest soil around, and learn how you can be part of more holistic food and soil systems at home. Howdy! As summer approaches, we’ll be saying a heartfelt, loving “see you later” to some of our student cyclists 🫶🏻 We’re now on the lookout for new folks to join our team! As a cyclist, you will bike around Missoula to pick up food scraps from our members! ♻️🍅🌼🥰 Are you someone who: 🚲 Has experience biking? 🥕 Enjoys working with food scraps? 🌏 Wants to see a more climate resilient Missoula? 🐱 Likes spending time with cats? ⏰ Can commit 1-2 hours weekly to cycling for at least 6 months? If you answered yes to some (or all!) of these weirdly specific questions, please fill out our Google Form online or at the link in our bio! Thanks Missoula! 💚

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Giveback for Soil Cycle members Monday March 30 from 3-5pm at Soil Cycle 736 S 1st St. W. We want to say thank you for being a member and supporting our organization! We will have a limited quantity available, and it will be handed out on a first-come-first-serve basis, limit 1 free bag per member. Additional worm castings, biochar and compost will be available for purchase.  Please RSVP (link in bio) so we know how many bags of worm castings to set aside. About Worm Castings Our living worm castings are made from  fermented food scraps, leaves, and  recycled paper. Beneficial bacteria from the  worm’s digestive system helps stimulate  healthy plant growth.  We believe that thinking differently about  “waste” can help recover our planet.  We hope you and your plants both agree.  Thank you for supporting our mission.  How to Use:  Mix in 15-20% castings by volume to soil,  top dress directly to the plant’s base,  or steep 1/4 cup castings in 1 gal. of water  overnight to create a tea. Tea can be  applied to the base for accelerated  nutrient delivery or sprayed on the foliage  as a pest deterrent.
