We’re looking for contributing writers for Fieldnotes. People who want to sit with culture slowly, and write around music, design, film, fashion, spaces, and the quieter conditions.
I came across Ann Demeulemeester Spring / Summer 2026, a warehouse show with live music by Aimee L. Nash that felt closer to a concert than a runway. It led me to how designers build worlds through sound, from Rick Owens and his pull toward punk to Rei Kawakubo who has said she does not really listen to music at all.
Fieldnotes is Softerfields’ editorial arm documenting how sound moves through culture.
Happy to introduce Rupert from @vinylsavedmylife as guest curator for this session.
A longtime vinyl collector and a deep admirer of Fela Kuti’s work, Rupert will guide first part of the evening through a selection drawn from across different periods of Fela’s career, moving through records that show the scale, rhythm, urgency, and political force of his music.
