The Eye is now on display at @neonmuseumstl ! Working on getting a small TV to add to the display. Thank you @katonstudios ! The Neon Museum is going to be open this Saturday evening! I believe the hours are 6:30-8:30. There are a lot of new pieces to check out (and a whole collection of neon clocks 🕢)

So proud of how this turned out for last weekend's event. Full nightclub mode for Monk! . I wanted to add a feeling of spring to the Face, so decided to fill it out on either side with 2 flowers. I had originally wanted to try to create a flower crown for it, but this was a good step in that direction. I also added a Luna moth to the composition, which is off to the right. . Projection mapping by Ryan McCoy. . I'm so in love with making art/stage pieces like this 😻 . #projectionmapping #clubculture . Party by @electricplugpresents 📸 By @thatswhenisnapped.photos

I participated in the Mayor's Ball, through @articastl . It was great to see creative friends having their work seen by a whole new audience. I felt conflicted about bringing apolitical art to an inherently political party. There are so many issues that our city is facing, so many who are struggling, and so many messages that are important to be heard. The Ball this year was a fundraiser for neighborhoods still facing fallout from the tornado last May (check @mayorsballstl for details). I hope that money was raised and can be helpful, but I also hope that people who have real power to change things are willing to engage in community work outside of attending a party. I am also always excited to bring art and light to my city when it is wanted, and I always want to be an ally for artists and creatives in our city and am proud to represent. I loved bringing this concept to life and I'm really happy with the complexity of the result. It really comes to life with music. Hoping I can show it again soon!

We’re so happy to be working with Ann Johnson - @softened_shadows -once again on the upcoming Mayor’s Ball project. Ann is a long-term ARTICA collaborator whose work has helped shape the festival’s creative backbone in many ways since 2014. Ann is an artist and an Engineer in Training with a background in Electrical Engineering and several years of professional lighting design. Her work centers on light - how it behaves, how people move through it, and how it changes the feel of a space. Whether she’s building a sculptural installation or a permanent piece, her focus is on creating environments that people notice and remember. Her projects span intimate wall pieces, large-scale interactive installations, and production-oriented environments that blend technical precision with a sense of play. The same approach extends into her work with the local business community. Ann has designed and built custom lighting and signage for beloved St. Louis spots including Tim’s Chrome Bar, Mississippi Underground, Atomic Cowboy, Handlebar & more. Her work has also been featured in local museums, hotels, public installations, major creative events, and in tons of other varied commissioned projects across the region. We’re excited to be working with Ann once again on this project. While she admits she’s still figuring out exactly what to conjure up for the evening, we have no doubt she’ll deliver a mind blowing installation for the 2026 Mayor’s Mardi Gras Ball! You can check out more on Ann's awesome work at Annjohnson.art

I'm setting up a closed loop telephone system for @stlvintagenightfest 's Cyber City event next Friday! And I need some help! One end of the system will be this cute little toy public telephone (very Matrix!) I need another phone with a phone jack, and some RJ11 cable! Anyone in St Louis have any I could use? 🔍☎️

Luna Moth has found a place to rest for now in the main entryway of the Angad Arts Hotel! It's amazing to know that my work will be shining and visible to everyone on the street. It is also for sale and if anyone wants to purchase, check out shop.angadartshotel.com under 13th Biannual. I've been working on this piece for over a year now and it's nice to know it's at a stopping point! I wanted to challenge myself to create my own custom-shaped pixel screens. For this one, I created the form by tracing a picture of an actual luna moth, creating an svg file, and using a laser cutter and cnc router to create the sculpture's surfaces. For me, luna moths represent natural beauty, intuition, and ethereal experiences. I used 5v bullet-type pixels to create my pixel surface. These are controlled using an Advatek Pixlite controller, which stores and plays patterns I created using Madmapper. It can be controlled live, by running an ethernet cable to it. Controlling it live in the front room at @mississippi.underground was such a special moment! As was showing it last year at @symmetryfestival and @laumeierstl Art After Dark! This is version 3 of the moth and this piece has taught me so much! I hope it can encourage moth-like behavior in all who experience it 💡🦋

I raffled off my passionflower sculpture on Sunday to help @dfyrights raise money for the @missouri_prairie_foundation and @grow_native . These organizations help preserve our land's biodiversity, promote the use of native plants, and educate about the plants indigenous to Missouri. This cause and this piece of art are both really near and dear to my heart. This piece originated from a personal grant given to me by Alan Cina of the Gateway Burners. In 2017, he saw me as a young artist who just needed an opportunity to create. He gifted me around $200 so that I could purchase the aluminum that makes up the petals. The other materials in this are leds, and those foam cylinder rave toys that you see at weddings and events. I call those foam sticks "the rave toys of the people" and I wanted to work those into a piece to honor their tradition of helping people celebrate by dancing with light. The idea was to show this at the Big Thing in the Desert in 2018 - and this made it out there, but it wasn't finished and I don't think anyone ever saw it outside of me trying my best to work on it at Pandora's Lounge (in between shifts at the Artery). It made it out, got dusty, then came back home, and I was still trying to make it work. I ended up showing it at @articastl that year, in a more finished form. I went back to school to get my engineering degree in Jan 2019, and this sculpture was (to me) a statement about all of the inspirations and values I built while I was discovering myself and my art practice in my 20s. I poured a lot of intention into it to finish it as a celebration of my adventurous lifestyle before settling down to focus on school again. I always wanted to make it better and always thought it wasn't finished, which is why I have never showed it since. Raffling it for this event was my way of learning to let go of the works that feel too personal to not be perfect. I hope that it will continue to bring joy to people as it starts its new life outside of my studio, where it has sat for too long covered in dust.

I finally finished this commission for the one and only @nocoastsk8boards !!! He wanted a sign for his little one, Eddie. This is my first sign that incorporates animations and I'm so proud of how it turned out! It has been a looooong time in progress and huge thanks to Bryan for allowing me the space to learn and grow! It has a button that cycles through the different animations, and a slider that controls the blink speed! I coded the animations using an esp32 that sends control voltage signals to the 5 different Tech22 neon transformers in this piece (one for each letter). Using esp32s as controllers for neon means I could incorporate signals over rf, bluetooth, and wifi!
