✨ THANK YOU FOR THE COLLABORATION✨
I want to send a huge thank you to the amazing Lydenskab ensemble, Laura Rathschau
@_rathschau_ and the brave opera singers Ted Schmitz #Tedschmitz, Joe Bolgerct
@joebolgerct , Jess Aszodi
@jessicaaszodi and Peyee Chen
@peyeepeyee for being so awesome, kind, and bold enough to perform in these alternative kombucha textiles! 🌿🍄
It has been such a unique journey where I’ve had the pleasure of managing the production of the kombucha textiles. Together with
@_rathschau_ and all the musicians at
@lydenskab have we grown all the textiles for the costumes! It has been an incredible experience to create living textiles and watch them come to life on stage in such an inspiring and amazing performance.
🍄🌱 Kombucha 🌱🍄
In this project, we wanted to take responsibility for the materials required for costume production. Textiles and clothing are some of the worst emitters globally, and working with kombucha has been an experiment in creating in new and more holistic ways. It’s been both exciting and challenging to explore sustainable solutions.
Kombucha is a fermented tea that, when cultivated in a specific way, creates a cellulose-based material on the watersurface. This material can be grown, harvested, and used as an alternative textile. It’s a living, breathing substance, and in this project, we’ve experimented with its potential to create sustainable, biodegradable fabrics.
This project has given me the courage to believe in what I, as a designer, want and can achieve. It’s been amazing to be part of such an inclusive and open community where creativity and sustainability come together. I am deeply grateful for the trust Lydenskab has placed in me and for being part of your beautiful and inspiring project. 🎶✨
