🧁🍰🎂🍩🍪🎀👩🏽🍳
Had the pleasure of doing some soft, dewy makeup on Skye for promotional photos in celebration of the 1 year anniversary of her business @neighborhoodbakes 💓 So grateful for all the awesome connections I’ve made the past two years doing makeup in Provo!

HANDSOME SQUIDWARD 🦑
Thank you to my awesome model Ellie for her patience throughout the application process of this prosthetic! I pre-painted the forehead piece with PAX paint and then went in with cake makeup for the rest of her face and texturing details.
This was definitely a learning process, but I am so happy with how the prosthetic application went! 🌊💄
MODEL: MADELINE 💓
Soooo honored to do Miss Madeline’s eye makeup for a @thisisadlab shoot!
I continue to face my biggest fear of putting lashes on other people, and I’m happy to report that I am seeing improvement in my abilities! I can’t wait to say I know Madeline when she’s a world famous Creative Director!!! 🤗
She Loves Me: Amalia Balash (Elena Shill) Hair Progression 💇🏽♀️
For our leading lady, I knew I wanted a 1950s Grace Kelly inspired hairdo. However, I didn’t anticipate how difficult it would be to nail this look. This process taught me how lighting and temperature can drastically change the appearance of a wig. After going through various wigs (warm toned, cool toned, dirty blonde, light brown, dark brown, pre-styled, & styled by BYU makeup coordinators), we landed on our winning look: a dark brunette 1950’s curled bob—classy and put-together, yet still feminine and youthful. 🤎
TAKEAWAYS:
1. In addition to color, it is just as important to consider texture, quality, and wig length. In my first round of pulling options from stock, I made the mistake of prioritizing wigs that matched the color I wanted, but did not have the length or thickness needed to achieve the hairstyle I wanted.
2. While styling wigs yourself can be fun, there’s nothing wrong with buying a wig pre-styled into the desired hairdo. We ended up buying a completely new mid-length wig with pre-set loose curls, making the 1950’s bob easily achievable and minimizing upkeep between performances. This would’ve saved me time and effort if I had chosen to purchase a new wig from the beginning, but I am grateful to have learned this lesson!
Finally getting around to posting about She Loves Me! This was my final assignment as a Hair and Makeup Designer at BYU, and I couldn’t think of a more perfect show to end on. 💓
I am so grateful for an amazing cast that made makeup trainings and tech week so much fun, access to technology that has strengthened my design skills, mentorship that has deepened my passion for both makeup and theatre, and the opportunity to learn and grow in such a collaborative department!
I’m so grateful that my family (especially my dad before he was in the hospital) were able to see the show. I’m so proud of the work I put in during the last year and can’t wait for my final semester where I will focus more extensively on gore/SFX and hairstyling techniques. It’s truly been GRAND knowing this brilliant cast and crew. 💓
✨A HIGHLIGHT OF WHAT I LEARNED✨
- The nuances of hair color (saying you just want a “brown wig” gives little to no information… more on that in a later post)
- How to draw faces on makeup renderings somewhat more realistically (still a work in progress but I’m so proud of how far I’ve come)
- How to effectively communicate makeup application instructions, both orally and in written form
- A designer’s love for the show comes out in the quality of work produced
- Lighting changes everything
- Working on a production requires collaboration and sometimes that means compromising; just because a design isn’t implemented doesn’t mean that it wasn’t executed in an effective or intelligent way
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁BYU MOA FASHION SHOW: THE SENSE OF BEAUTY. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁
I had the incredible opportunity last winter semester to design 4 hair and makeup looks for BYU’s Museum of Art fashion show, celebrating the collection “The Sense of Beauty.” It was so fulfilling to collaborate with other creative minds from the advanced sewing construction class and faculty from the @byumoa 💓 I was in NYC the night of the show, so while I was unable to help with the makeup application for the evening, I’m so grateful for the makeup artists who perfectly executed my vision for each model! This was another perfect opportunity to sharpen my skills as a designer in color theory and digital rendering. Thank you @byutma for so many incredible makeup projects that freshman year me had no idea were possible!
The four paintings I drew inspiration from were:
Flaming June 🧡
St. Francis in Meditation 🖤
Port of Delft ♥️
The Magic of Pachulí ❤️
As I’ve been going through some hardships in my personal life, I felt so much gratitude viewing these pictures this evening from such a special project. I’m humbled by the many creative opportunities that have come my way the last two years as a makeup student. ❤️🩹🤞
Had so much fun working with @balkan_primadonna on another project! I don’t think Ada realizes how talented she truly is. This shoot was inspired by her interpretation of The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. 👽🤍

It’s been a minute! Senior year has been filled with so many odd jobs and I love it. This unique tanline was from a couple weeks ago for a spec campaign for @sunbum ☀️ Used some new products and experienced a bit of a learning curve, but overall I’m happy with how this turned out!
