San Antonio’s culinary culture is one of the most vibrant, soulful, and diverse in the world, and being able to tell my story through food , while representing the city that has given me so much, means more to me than I can explain.
This video captures something deeply personal to me: the connection between my two greatest passions growing up: soccer and cooking. ⚽️👨🏻🍳
Before the chef jackets, awards, long nights, and kitchens… I was completely obsessed with soccer. The sport taught me discipline, resilience, competitiveness, teamwork, and consistency. It shaped the way I lead, teach, mentor, and cook today.
The kitchen eventually became my new field.
The dish featured in this video is my elevated tribute to comfort, culture and San Antonio, inspired by my favorite foods growing up: fideo, chilaquiles, carne asada and brunch culture.
What means the most to me, though, is seeing my son included in this story. Because at the end of the day, everything I do is rooted in family, love, culture, and legacy.
Thank you as well to The Culinary Institute of America for helping shape me not only as a chef, but as an educator over the last decade. Teaching and mentoring the next generation has become one of the greatest honors of my career.
San Antonio, thank you for embracing me.

Spring showed off for us 🌿✨
What an unforgettable night at the UNESCO Demo Series dinner at the San Antonio Botanical Garden - completely sold out, surrounded by nature at its peak, everything blooming, weather absolutely perfect.
We built this menu with intention, pulling directly from the garden - ingredients grown just steps away from where they were plated. This is the kind of cooking that fills my soul… where land, season, and story all come together on the plate.
This is also exactly what we do at Sofia Sada Culinary Experiences: creating immersive, ingredient-driven moments that connect people through food, place, and culture.
I got to share some of my favorite flavors, techniques, and traditions with a room full of incredible people. Met so many amazing guests, had the best energy all night, and truly felt in my element - between nature, community, and food.

Moules Marinières always takes me somewhere else.
There’s something about the aroma when they first open… the wine, the herbs, the warmth of the pan. It feels like the beginning of a good night.
