Delving into the contentious issue of the Messina Strait B̶r̶i̶d̶g̶e̶, the mix is the result of months of conversations and correspondences developed with Sofia Rudi Kent. The audio piece expands on her publication “Suspended Infrastructure: Myth and Governance in the Italian South“, a project she worked on as a graduate of the Centre for Research Architecture Research at Goldsmiths, in London, investigating the feverish plan of the Italian state to build the longest suspension bridge in the world over the Strait of Messina. The show consists of fishermen songs, anti-bridge protest chants, readings of infrastructure theory and field recordings from an intense summer of dissent. The show was developed with the precious contribution of Federica Vita, moniker of @bluemarina_._ , who shared personal field recordings from the shores of the Strait of Messina and recommended a number of Sicilian and Calabrian artists whose songs were included in the mix. The mix encompasses a selection of music and sound pieces from various South Italian artists, mostly Sicilian and Calabrian, including Rosa Balistreri, Otello Profazio, Federica Vita (@bluemarina_._ ), Penelope Agata Zumbo (@penelopeagatazumbo ), Sara Persico (@__sarapersico ), Cumulo di Rifiuti (@localedischi ), Maria Violenza (@maria_violenza ), Mai Mai Mai (@tonicutrone_ / @maimaimaikr ), Giuseppe De Francesco (@_giuseppe_de_francesco_ ), @officinepopolarilucane and @abrulibula .
