🍃höjden teacher sessions: SOFIA CASTRO🍃 FLAMENCO AS A TOOL - OPEN LEVEL 30/11 31/11 6 PM - 8PM Sofía Castro is a choreographer and flamenco artist based in Stockholm. Castro's artistic style is characterized by a multifaceted combination of different skills and expressions. With a solid education and extensive experience, she has brought together traditional flamenco and the contemporary art scene to explore existential questions through artistic productions, both large and small. Her expertise in flamenco, combined with a passion for cross-disciplinary collaborations, has been crucial in creating innovative and engaging works. Her productions have gained attention on both traditional flamenco stages and modern stages for performing arts, film, and theater around the world. FIRST SESSION (30/10 6-8PM) During our first session, we dive into the basics of flamenco in a playful and exploratory way. We start with simple technique exercises that focus on body posture, expression, and movements for the upper body, arms, and hands. As we move through the exercises, I will share my thoughts behind the choice of music and movements. Together, we will then create a short choreography and explore how we can use these tools in our own dance expression. We end with a moment of reflection and discussion about our impressions and thoughts from the class. SECOND SESSION (31/10 6-8PM) We will use a method based on different emotional states to explore how they affect our movements and choreographic choices. During the process, we will experiment with delving into the impact of each emotional state, as well as playing with letting go of them entirely to see how this changes our expression and decisions. We conclude with a group discussion where we reflect on what we have learned, share our insights, and discuss how we can use these experiences in our own dance expression and choreographic work.
