My novella, COUP DE GRÂCE, is officially out today! 🚇 I’m so emotional 🥹 Thank you all so much for supporting this. It’s about a man trapped in a labyrinthian subway station, and depression, and choice, and liminality, and if you see yourself in any of that, this is for you. A huge thank you to @DanCarpenter85 and @titanbooks for believing in me and taking this experimental story under their wing 🥹💕 it was truly such a pleasure to work with them. Thank you to allll the people who have preordered COUP DE GRÂCE, and to the readers and podcasters who took the time to read and write reviews about this devious little creature. Thank you in particular to Becky Spratford for her limitless support of indie horror writers 🥹💕 And thank you to blurbers for being so enthusiastic. I am in a debt of gratitude 😭🩶 To my writer friends, you are my everything. Thank you for supporting me 🥺 Anyway, enough yapping, or I’m gonna start crying. Available wherever books are sold! You can read it in an afternoon (130 pages)—off you go!

Reading from my short story The Roses of Heliogabalus. It’s m/m, filled with opulence. A queer, speculative tale inspired by the spellbinding painting of the same name by the artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. It follows the tyrant emperor, Heliogabalus, as he starves a city of his people so that he can grow thousands of roses for a banquet. His muse: the queer poet Abu Nuwas—an anachronism plucked from time. The banquet is filled with poetry and Bacchic opulence, and its apex depicts the moment in the painting where he smothers his guests to death under petals of roses. Zine version is on my sìte! 🥀 #writersofinstagram #heliogabalus #poetry #spokenword #readingrecommendations

Today is my birthday! Suddenly I’m 36. Big year for me, lots of milestones (I’m 2 years on T) and big changes (I closed my flagship and moved my jewelry studio) and I won a Stoker Award for Coup de Grâce and there were surgeries (plural!) and believe me, nothing puts your life into perspective quicker than when you think you’re going to die from a rare surgical complication. So. It’s been a scary year but a joyous one, too! I wish for this next year to go on more adventures and spend more time with my craft, gently restoring the rooms of my imagination that have come to be rather neglected during such a tumultuous year. You have my permission to eat sweet treats and dabble in HRT today (hey, trans rights readathon starts tomorrow, it’s only fair).

Some of the stunning portraits that came from Len & I modelling at @queerbodiesmontreal last week. I’m obsessed and wish I could’ve seen them all. Drawing and portraiture have been such a happy discovery this year!

The audiobook version of Coup de Grâce is out TODAY! @tantoraudio Narrated by @grahamhalstead . I’ve been so offline these past few months but I’m excited to share this with you (it’ll be my first time listening to it too. Curious how they’ll tackle the, uh… idiosyncratic format of it. If you give it a listen, PLEASE let me know! I’m dying to know what folks think.
