Panic, exhilaration.
@wijsgerigfestivaldrift
On May 10th we built, performed and broke down this piece next to the Stadspaleis in the centre of Amsterdam. Many thanks to my collaborators, in particular the wonderful
@sofia_devalk - who agreed to spend an hour (!) in this installation with me -, the many volunteers of Festival Drift, the clear skies and incredibly picturesque GVB.
Panic, exhilaration. is a performative installation to explore the topic of human relics and the complicated relationship between our notion of ‘life’ and the image. Inspired by Japanese Butoh-theatre, where one ‘becomes the it’ (Tashi Iwaoka), this human tapestry hosts a paradoxical transformation. After all, ‘the witnessing of animation or de-animation determines a position of faith.’ (Aura Satz)
