My parents used to take Lindy Hop and Balboa classes back in 2012. In 2017 my mom convince me to join the class in @kyiv_swing_dance_club . Before even trying, I was very repulsed by this idea, saying that “this is the dance for an old people, I want something modern”.
I didn’t want to dance anything at all at the first place. Dancing for me associated only with post-USSR screaming dance instructors that I’ve seen from afar. No surprise it didn’t want to give it shot…
Though, I was convinced to try, and it didn’t take me long to get hooked. On video you can see my first birthday jam, already being completely in LOVE.
Fast forward — festivals, shows, communities, new home, dear people, love.
One of the qualities I’m grateful to have is being able to listen to my heart, and follow it through the fears and challenges.
I follow love and I find fulfilment.
I think, my mom taught me 🫂

Someone at the festival asked me how often and how do we practice together as a switch couple. However, met only once — last summer in Herräng, where we had great social dancers.
Some weeks ago, I found out that Kyler is coming to Prague all the way from the US, and so I asked if he would like to join a strictly competition as a switch couple.
Then — some social dances in Prague, some fast swingout trials in the changing room — and here we are. I’m happy to be able to showcase this in finals 💛
