wow, this was incredible. if someone had told me three years ago, when i started my bachelor's, that my graduation ceremony would turn out like this, i probably wouldn't have believed them. i'm so thankful for everything—the support, the people, and all that brought me here—but i've also learned not to take credit away from myself. throughout my life, my academic achievements were often downplayed because they were expected. i'd hear things like, "well, you've always been good at school," or "it just comes easy to you." but today, i really feel like, even if i've always been somewhat good at school, and even if it does "come easy" (whatever that means), graduating with honours, cum laude, as valedictorian, while also winning the best thesis award (in my third language), is special—and i did it. having a talent for it doesn’t make it any less my achievement; trust me, i had to put in the work.
