Clips from rides on some of the Metrocables that service residents in steep neighborhoods of Medellín. They depart from stations along the metro and have stops going up and down. One line is a tourist line and carries an extra fee otherwise you transfer free of cost.
On the narrow mountainside streets buses, motos, water trucks, cars, dogs and pedestrians pass each other by the width of a buñuelo. As you go higher it becomes poorer and less developed. Up top is where many internally displaced families and Venezuelan refugees live.
Like in Ciudad de México where I made a similar video this brilliant means of public transportation method is really proving its worth.
🔊: unrealeased Sofa T
Bruja appreciation post: To get to the village of San Cipriano and its crystal clear jungle waters you have to jump on a Brujita and take it along an (obviously not) abandoned railway between Córdoba and Zaragoza near Buenaventura on the Pacific coast.
Earlier carts were pushed by human power (as far as I understood) but a couple of decades ago the locals came up with this ingenius solution to transport anything from themselves to food and building materials on these little lightweight carts that can be easily taken off the rails and turned around, maintained and moved for passage on this two-way, one-track railroad.
You get off the bus on the highway to Buenaventura and walk down through Córdoba and find where you buy your ticket. Hand it to a guy, wait around for a bit, and a ride is assembled and loaded with goods and people and off you go with the wind in your face.
San Cipriano is a beautiful and peaceful place especially popular with people from Cali, and foreigners visit too. A tight, hard working and organized community. Even though many governments advice against travel in this area I most certainly would not.

‘Transit Romantic’ is a deep house/bruk joint with 808 percussion, wobble subs and suave vocals. Techno banger ‘Iztapalapa’ feat. IKACO goes hard with dubby hypnotic pads and thick analog bass gravy. Both offer unique perspectives on Sofa T’s trippy and entirely machine-produced sound.

The two tracks on the EP each represent a different perspective on Sofa’s psychedelic and entirely machine-produced vibes. Opi Bokeh is a shuffling, ever-evolving broken house groove, while City J merges a dreamy synth loop with bruk bassline styles. Both absolute killers on discerning dance floors.
Ventanilla - ‘small window’ in Spanish - is just that: a first glimpse of the next stage in Sofa T’s adventure into sound. Stay tuned for further transmissions from Sofa's shuttle.
