The FISH have hit the water for our last two championship meets of the summer - Eastern Zones! We have 6 swimmers at Age Group Zones in Ithaca, NY representing Potomac Valley, and 6 swimmers in Pittsburgh, PA at Senior Zones representing FISH! Meet Your Coaches Monday: Coach Curtis – Advanced Age Group!

Coach Curtis joined the FISH coaching staff in 2018 after spending 22 years coaching throughout Virginia. He began coaching in his hometown of Virginia Beach before heading up to the Potomac Valley region in 2014.
✨
✨
✨
Coach Curtis is currently the lead coach of Advanced Age Group, but has worked extensively with all ages and skill levels, and he has plenty of wisdom to share with all. Last season he also was the lead coach of our Audrey Moore Age Groupers. He encourages his swimmers to pursue knowledge and success in all aspects of their lives, and continues to dedicate himself to the sport and the positive effect it has on young athletes.

Coach Curtis can also be found running the show at our hosted meets. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a meet director, which has helped the FISH to run successful team and PVS meets.

✨
So, what everyone really wants to know – CAN he eat Thai food while hanging off of a rock wall? The jury is still out, but in his spare time Coach Curtis is an avid climber. In addition to his physical activities away from the pool, he loves to explore locally and find new and delicious places to eat.

Meet Your Coaches Monday: Coach Nicole - our Head Coach!

Coach Nicole joined the FISH coaching staff in 2012, after graduating from George Mason University and spending 3 years working with the FISH Winter Conditioning Program at Audrey Moore.
✨
✨
✨
Coach Nicole has enjoyed working with all of the groups on deck, but is now the primary coach of the Audrey Moore Senior Group. Last year she also led the Fantastic FISH group at Audrey Moore.

✨
✨
With the support of her fellow coaches, Nicole was named as a finalist for the Fitter & Faster Age Group Coach of the Year in 2016. That same year she gave two presentations on coaching at the ASCA World Clinic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

✨
✨
One of Coach Nicole’s favorite things about coaching is experiencing travel with her athletes. She has traveled to meets from Age Group and Senior Zones, to Nationals and Olympic Trials. She has been on and helped organize training trips to Colorado and Omaha, and loves to create videos of the trips once the team returns. You may have seen her various videos on our FISH YouTube page!

And while she has never ridden a moose, Coach Nicole did grow up in Maine where she spent lots of time in the water at the beach, and has even seen a moose run through her backyard!
