Little backstory on the track Dark City. It originally wasn’t supposed to be on the ep. When I went to London for a Future Retro show in April, Tim, Soulox and I had booked a recording space to do a two hour guest mix. We had a lot of troubleshooting but eventually got it working and spent about 3 hours slamming banger tunes left and right. later in the set I played this dub i had just made called Dark City, and when it drop Tim just about went nuts. We all had a blast dancing like a bunch fools swinging our arms in the air in a the recording booth but alas at end of the night the recording file was unfortunately corrupt and no one will ever know the magic, sadly. I played the tune again at the show and later Tim hit me up and was like “I gotta have that track man” and I was like “bet we’ll just switch it for this other tune called “The Zone”. That tune should be out later next year on another label - I think. Anyway Biggup to Tim for supporting this release and Biggup to everyone supporting me and my music and all the releases and shows. Producer and DJ “Sow-en-Aye-Doh" is originally from Orange County and now based in Oakland, California. He was introduced into the LA, Orange County and San Diego rave scene by his older sister in the late ’90s at 14 and was drawn toward the raw physicality of jungle and MC-led dancefloors across hip hop, hardcore, techno and rave. He got his first turntable at 15, by 17 was producing his own music and now focuses on analogue gear, vinyl DJing and pushing his local LOTEK events series and label, Soeneido continues championing US-based underground artists and is prolific in the scene
His characteristic 8-bit tracker darkside jungle and jungle techno draws heavily from the classic 1992–1995 era of the sound. His productions jump between ominous 4x4 pressure, rugged yet intricate breakbeat manipulation, old-school stabs, raw tracker textures, rave piano euphoria and hip hop inflections — raw jungle and warehouse-focused energy...perfect for the distillery...
Much of his music is self-released through Bandcamp but in recent years he's also made appearances across labels including Future Retro London, Ruff N Tuff, Heavy Sounds, Intaception and more. Hes one of the leading US Junglists and we cant wait to add him to our roster !

Inviting one of my favorite producers and good friend @soeneido for this month’s show on @subtleradio . One of the coolest guys I know, I stayed with Soen for a couple of days when I was visiting the Bay Area last year and got to chat with all things music with him. Although he’s more known for his Jungle tunes his history with music runs wide and deep, and after sharing some of our fav tunes in the non Jungle category I thought it would be really cool to do a non Jungle show with Soen :) Gloomy, atmospheric techno and breaks that capture the color tone of his productions in the first hour from Soen, and me with the second hour trying to capture the grit and texture of his tunes with a mix of techno, dubstep, and electro.

We are Happy to host Bay Area junglist Soeneido. He has acquired international recognition for his fiercely unique productions of hardcore jungle and stewarding the original ethos of 90’s rave culture. His tunes are chock full of dark obscure samples, pulled from places like thrift-store binned cassettes and ninja b-movie soundtracks from the 80s. He creates sonic environments laden with analogly smashed breakbeats and desolate sci-fi horror film ambiences. He is a purveyor of retro technology like the Amiga and 8-bit tracker software to make much of his tracks, but he aims to drive the sound forward into new territory, picking up from where 93 darkside left off.
Since 2021 he has released over a dozen vinyl titles, some on the infamous jungle testing grounds founded by Tim Reaper- Future Retro London. You can also find some of his notable works released on his own solo bandcamp label LOTEK OAKLAND, including protracker favorites like Gun Clappa, Jaguar Teeth, and many more. A DJ set by Soeneido is always packed, whether taking you on a crash course through 90s classics or cathartically drilling forward with unreleased material and future forward jungle / drum n bass.
