BIAS TAPE Finishing with bias tape is a satisfying technique to master. It’s not overly complicated to apply, and it really elevates the final garment. Cut your own bias tape or purchase it ready-made. Play with contrasting colors and mixed fabrics. To apply it: 1. First, sew the bias tape to the wrong side of the fabric. 2. Turn your garment around and press the tape in place. 3. Stitch the final line from the right side. BIAS TAPE EXPLAINED Bias tape is a narrow strip of fabric that’s cut on the bias, meaning at a 45° angle to the fabric’s straight grain. Because it’s cut diagonally, it has natural stretch and flexibility, which makes it perfect for finishing curved edges.

Thoughts on January. A new year with new projects. We believe in the magic of working with our hands. In slowing down. In giving the brain a rest while the body works. Sewing teaches us patience, process, and value. It teaches us how long something actually takes to make, and where our clothes truly come from. Making garments at home is a meaningful alternative to buying and why sewing makes sense to us.
