Last night at @weirdsciencetheater 📽️🎞️ . . . Quite frankly this is the best I’ve ever looked, and I always enjoy donning my diaphanous gown and paying tribute to the glorious tradition that is lesbian vampire films of the early 70s with my Vampire Lovers inspired Hammer Horror act. Because who wouldn’t want to look like Ingrid Pitt, truly? And all of the film inspired acts last night were incredible, we truly ran the gamut, and everyone brought their very best. Definitely would love to see more people at the next one. If you want more vampire action ASAP however, @hausofbrimstone Bloodthirsty is happening tonight and Saturday, and I’ll be gracing the stage with another one of my favourite gothic horror inspired acts featuring a niche song from the 80s that more than half of the crowd has never heard. The don’t call him the pale elf for nothing, because when I tell you I literally used WHITE foundation to tone down my Sherwood tan. 😭 But behold! Astarion! When @electricaura invited me to be part of their drag and burlesque showcase at @creators.after.dark I immediately decided that the vampire elf twink was the move, and all that needed to happen next was that I needed to make an act to go with it. Oh. And a costume. That’s important too. VERY pleased with how it all came together. The flounces especially on the shirt are particularly tasty, and I love the texture of the chaps in contrast with the rest. But literally I was working on this costume in 2-3 hour spurts whilst also balancing my day job, producing Boyz, and Marie Antoinette at the ballet so it was down to the wire! Thank you everyone who came to the show, I am definitely going to be bringing this act elsewhere. Even if it does mean shaving my beard. Had so much fun at the @boyzofaustin Monsterf*ckers show this past Wednesday being a little tiefling with a big crush on a particularly smoking hot dommy mommy. Considering I had only a few hours to pull this act together to fill in for a sick performer, I thought this act was hilarious and I have to say, definitely proud of the makeup, especially the horns. This was one of our most unhinged Boyz shows to date, and we are only just getting started. You won’t want to miss the shows we have coming up for the rest of 2026. It was a departure from acts I’ve done in the past, but still ended up giving everything I wanted it to: fetish, fun, and radical self love. Because everyone deserves the experience of looking in the mirror and saying “I’m literally the hottest thing on this planet right now, and no one can stop me.” And if they try… well… Step on them! So what was it like being a drag king in 2016 you ask? VERY DIFFERENT, let me tell you. Took a while for me to hop on this trend just because I did want to take some time to gather my thoughts and give y’all who might not remember a little drag history lesson! Because whether I like it or not, 2016 was a decade ago and I’ve been doing drag for 15 years, so that now makes me part of the history. 🤣 And what better time for story time than when you’re hunkered down for the deep freeze? I moved to back to Austin, TX in Dec 2015, a time when the drag landscape was very different than it is now. The divide between 4th Street and Red River drag was much wider and more rigid than it is now, and I was not only one of the first kings, but one of very first performers period who had “crossover appeal”. At the time, MI pageantry was essentially in its golden age, and I qualified for my second Nationals in USofA: MI early on in 2016. I remember being so frustrated that I (at the time) was a fairly mainstream performer with titles and glitz and glam, and yet I was expected to paint myself with an “alternative drag” brush simply because I was a drag king. So I basically said “huh. Yeah that’s stupid,” and didn’t do it. Like I’ve always been goth. I’ve always been weird. But it was the expectation that my drag had to be one certain way and restrained to only a few venues because of my downstairs plumbing that really put a bug in my bedspread. So I simply battered against that glass ceiling until they let me through. Scroll through to see me at the height of my pretty boy years! This was before the era of heavily painted drag kings, in fact, at the time, I was considered a king who wore a lot of makeup! The Demon King . . . Took a break from the holiday cheer yesterday to get a bit freaky and weird for @weirdsciencetheater presents: The Cell. Much like the movie itself, the show was an under-appreciated masterpiece, but I’m so proud of my Stargher makeup from last night. Always glad of an opportunity to flex my crazy makeup muscles and do something horrific to my face. I have a week off now and I’ll be out of town and probably away from my phone, but if you want to see me on stage one last time in 2025, I will be performing on New Year’s Eve at @elysiumaustintx for the annual party, and I hope to see y’all there!
