It's not every day you see a whole house on the back of a lorry 👀🚛🏠
But this was by design - because the Social Bite Village in Edinburgh recently moved from one site to another. Our Village Project Manager Richard was on hand to explain how we moved the village and what's different at the new location 🏘️
The first Social Bite Village was built on a 'meanwhile use' basis. We got permission from the council to make use of the land until construction was due to begin for the waterfront redevelopment programme. So we designed the village to be easily moved when the time came. Now, making use of derelict and unused land, even temporarily, is a central part of the Social Bite Village model, which we want more local authorities to adopt 📣
A huge thank you to our amazing partners at Advance, who are working hard to get the new site ready for residents 💚

✨ Two incredible events, with one shared mission: to end homelessness ✨
We’re so proud to have been supported by the Gleneagles Gala for the fourth year in a row - and every year, the generosity in that room amazes us. The momentum continued the next night at the British Business Awards, where another incredible auction took place in support of Social Bite. A huge thank you to @thegleneagleshotel and @britishbusinessawards for choosing to support us in this way 🤝
Brilliantly hosted by @robbrydon , the events featured inspiring words from Sir Bob Geldof, Josh Littlejohn MBE and George Clooney, alongside a powerful standing ovation for former Social Bite employee Sonny Murray as he shared his story.
A heartfelt and huge thank you to everyone who supported and attended. Together, these two events raised just under £2 million, enabling us reach more people with the support that makes a lasting difference 💚
Last week, our founder Josh gave Sir Bob Geldof and Rob Brydon a tour of our new village in Rutherglen, where they met residents and heard more about the difference the village makes to someone trying to leave homelessness behind.
Bob and Rob left as advocates for our plans to roll out the Social Bite Village model in towns and cities across the UK 💚

With George Clooney returning to Scotland next week, we’re thinking back to where it all began - and there’s one story we always come back to when sharing what Social Bite is all about: Peter’s 💚
Social Bite began life as a small coffee shop in Edinburgh in 2012. Shortly after the shop opened, a young man called Peter, who had been selling The Big Issue outside, plucked up the courage to come in and ask for a job. Recognising his initiative, he was brought onto the team.
That moment was the turning point when a café on Rose St became the start of a mission to end homelessness 💪
